Again the riots at that time were an outlet for people and because of individual greed rather than just because of mass migration. In my teens I was sent back home because of being involved in school fight and nearly expelled, today looking back on it I was in the wrong crowd. I stay with my Aunt for half a year, but it’s the people who CHOOSE to hang around with. I was born and raised in London and have lived here for 25 years. Never been stabbed, never been robbed, never been in a bar/street fight, never felt unsafe and I’m perfectly healthy. It’s down to the individuals CHOICES. Hard for many to admit, but it’s the truth. Maybe this sort of behavior didn’t cause much harm historically in Somalia, and other Somali majority societies. However, it does in many places in the world now. Somali fathers need to make sacrifices regardless of how uncomfortable it makes them feel...for the sake of their children and future generations. That means that they might need to have only ONE wife. They might need to tell those relatives back home, “sorry, I can no longer provide you a monthly stipend while my kids aren’t getting everything they need”...if not they will lose their children.

Yeah, a lot of the time it’s that. But once you narrow down the cause, it usually leads to targeting of people from specific backgrounds. Like how kids from a certain socioeconomic background are more likely to be approached by dealers who offer them “jobs” (trust me I’ve seen this happen many times). This then leads to them joining a gang, and ultimately knife crime. It’s like this, would you expect a white person from an affluent area to be asked to deal by dealers and gang members? But yeah, it’s a lot of the time the stabbing aren’t targeted but once you narrow down the causes, you’ll see it’s targeted.

my 'nephew' born in the uk used to have such a temper, he would cuss his mother out and embarrass everyone. one day she shipped him to Nigeria to school. After a year, the boy has become so well behaved its a huge contrast. Thing is over in Nigeria, kids are punished, and goodness, the devil that will make you pick up a knife to stab someone would be the one to caution you before trying that nonsense. i think British kids are really spoiled and there is no real punishment for misbehaviour. As a Somali i agree with you its a parenting issue, I worked at a daycare for 6 months and I was embarrassed to learn that most of the troubel markers were Somali. I've complained to the parents multiple times but it never resolves anything. I think child care should be part of the curriculum in schools over all especially here in the States.

The child's first teacher is their parents. They copy everything about you because you are their everything. When you are sad, the child becomes sad. When you are happy, they are happy. When you show patience, they learn patience. And when you show anger and violence, they show anger and violence. Beating your kids has a time and place. Even then its meant to be light and not on the face. If you beat the dog shit out of your child on a weekly basis they'll start to develop that anger. Then they'll be just as violent if not worse because they don't really have a sense of control since they're still youths.

Let's learn to be more specific: this is not a British thing, it's not an African or black people thing. I lived in Islington for over ten years and I know this community very well. They auto segregated. You invite them to a birthday party and they don't come, you invite them to a million things and they don't take part. Many of them live for decades in the country and don't speak more than two words in English. They blame the police for stopping and search their kids, but when one is kill they ask why the police didn't do enough to stop this to happen. I believe if they can send their kids back to Africa, all the family can follow too. I had a very good friends from that community when living there, but they had very particular ways that I always thought might upset the rest of the people. They don't open much to others. They don't understand English people because they don't mix with them. I hope things in Somalia get better soon, so no mother or child has to suffer in a civilized country like the UK that opened the arms to them when they needed it the most. I am sorry if they could not adapt. Allah might help you all brothers and sisters!

I am a Somali, a muslim living in Nairobi. I have experienced a time when I was a teenager and majority of my somali agemates were in gangs right where I was brought up. They snatched phones and stabbed each other and passers-by. I have never involved myself in such acts. Why? Because I am a MUSLIM and my faith strictly prohibits such acts. For those saying that these teenagers act evil because of Islam, are the good muslims who in fact are a majority Christians? This is nothing but poor upbringing of children. Their parents don't work, they do nothing at all other than waiting for handouts from European governments. What else did you expect from idle minds? Parents have no responsibility of the kids. What do you expect from kids who can't be disciplined? You cane the kids for indiscipline and the government thinks you can't be the right parent for the kids. You are actually sued for disciplining your own child. It is your policies that have caused all this! In Africa they don't misbehave this much, we do have this kind of cases but they are majorly carried out by teenagers whose parents live abroad. Children and women are the kings and queens in your societies. You stripped of men from their responsibilities, now you got to deal with what you planted. Lastly, for the Somali community, it is ashaming that we always choose to nurture our children in unfavourable environments. Majority claim that they need peaceful environment where kids can get better education. Where is that education now? Education is of no use in the absence of discipline! I'm a British Somali girl but I do not feel sorry for this Somali youth that are either locked in prison or in gangs knifing other gangs. Why are Somali guys always out late alone or in groups & sometimes even drunk at night in the streets. In West or NW London I dont see others or even Jamaicans/Caribbeans that do this. What's up with that.

Unless you assimilate into the culture of one of those four countries since they make up the "United Kingdom" then if you practice any other culture you are not really British. It would be like me going to Somalia and practicing French culture, then declaring that I am Somalian. Don't you see how far from British you really are?

@@danny5018 well for starters I have a British/London accent..I was born here. Yes I'm very in tune with British culture. I have a typically dry British sense of humour. You can't get more British than me. I'm wittier than many of the enthnically British people I know. At the same time I am my ethnicity too I speak my mother tongue & also have Somali DNA & culture so hop along and find something better to do 👍

2 points : 1 - Don't get involved with the activities that put you into the path of regular knife violence. 2 - UK Police sometimes too soft when punishing certain crimes , alot of the time too scared of offending the human rights of criminals , prioritizing that over sympathy/justice for the victim.

hentaipanda07 like the first guy said, easier said than done. I grew up in Tottenham and although I didn’t cause any trouble during my secondary school days, I did find myself in a rough group of friends mainly due to my siblings friends and their connection to them/ school social standings/ not fitting with in or having similar interests with other groups/ outside school activities. They would often cause trouble and I would try to avoid hanging around with them but it’s difficult to leave a certain circle of people that have a dominate presence in every aspect of your life. Your community, school, football team and etc
