Such a beautiful love story….She passed away on 2020. They should make a statue of her seated on the bench with his photo on her hands…we don’t realize in nowadays that people just have the voices of their lovers in their memories. With our phones we film everything…It’s all so easy now…Imagine looking the love of your life and having his voice only in your memories? They are together again…Now they can hear each other ✨💛

I've only just seen this, i didn't know she died. She was our family's GP for 30 years. Most wonderful doctor you could ever wish for. So kind, gentle and caring. I love the idea of having a statue of her. Such a beautiful love story.

@@kendall_knows_best2872 because my friend is Peter Lodge's granddaughter. Peter Lodge was the sound engineer who did the recording after Oswald Lawrence didn't turn up because of a union dispute.

@@stephenguppy7882The information provided on the London Transport Museum's official website clarifies the matter: "The Mind the Gap announcement was first heard in 1969 and was recorded by Sound Engineer Peter Lodge. Peter originally hired an actor to voice the recording, but royalties were expected, and as the announcement would be played thousands of times a day, this simply was not financially viable. Subsequently, Peter made the recordings himself until someone more suited could be found. Over the years, the message has been recorded by many people, however, here we want to talk of the one voiced by the actor Oswald Laurence, who made the recordings for the Northern line in the late 1960s/ early 1970s (the exact dates are unknown). Oswald Laurence was born on 25 March 1929 in Hamburg, Germany. He was a theatre actor and lived in London with his wife, Dr Margaret McCollum, until his death in 2007 at the age of 78."

the first English words I have learnt were probably "mind the gap" when I came to London in 1998 for the first time. Now I live in London and didn't even realise this can be heard only at Embankment

He is literally telling her mind the gap between the living and the dead. At some point we need to move on however painful that may be. Our loved ones wouldnt like us to suffer for the rest of our lives. They rather make us smile and warm and be a source of strength with our shared memories.
