Donnie MacLeod WAS Mr Pebble Mill At One. God Rest His Soul, Always.

Wonderful memories. It was sheer vandalism to close and demolish Pebble Mill. The BBC in the Midlands has never recovered.

I just got sucked into a vortex of 1981. It's great here.,

I was always waiting for it to end so I could watch what came after. Don't remember what that was now.

I remember watching this at the time, aged eleven, and had just started senior school. My mother was in hospital having an operation. The theme tune is unforgettable and in the key of A major!

This has grown on me and is now my favourite Pebble Mill theme tune.

I notice there are no dislikes for this thus far, and there shouldn't be. Excellent piece of music which has everything that is pleasing to the discerning ear. Tres magnifique!!!!!

A pal of mine, Arthur Binnie, was a programme editor on Pebble Mill at One and always said this was his favourite of the three themes used throughout the programme's run. I agree.

I was 5 in 1981 and vaguely remember this because at that age just starting school we didn't have to stay the full school day at first until we were settled. I only vaguely remember the tune, but vividly remember the tune 'Bart by Ruby' which was often used as the '... Follows shortly' linking music on the BBC around the same time.

I was eleven at the time, so six years older than you. I have a very good musical memory and remember both Miller's Tune and Bart when growing up. That year, I moved from junior to senior school!

Sounds good.We in America are not familiar with this but if it was beamed over to is we would have enjoyed it,I'm sure.

It was a light daytime talk and feature show. I had assumed that essentially they at least partly modelled the format after American shows.

The second of four themes between 1972 - 1986 (the 3rd did not go down very well in 1983 - soon replaced).
@timdickinson73044 жыл бұрын
That 3rd one was a curious mix of synth and minor key! Not exactly uplifting.

I'd left school by 1981, so never heard this tune before. Have to say I still prefer the original! It reminds me of lunches at home!

I left school in 1986 aged sixteen, having taken my O Levels and didn't stop on to take A Levels, but joined the YTS Scheme instead!

I prefer this one. As you please I don't remember it as well as this one, because I was not that old then!
