In 1994 6 I was on bus and guy got on and omg the guy looked so much like Jimmy cockhill I couldn't believe it.

Amazing. Takes me back to the eighties and nineties when this became the theme. Such an uplifting yet foreboding introduction. It might have been the storyline, the news of the day or the weather but the atmosphere of this track always somehow fitted in with the mood of the times in which this great kitchen sink drama graced our screens. Makes me sad for a time long gone. RIP Brookside.

Not sure it will be easy to fit in every episode in batches of 10 compared to the two a week and/ or the omnibus on a Saturday but I am looking forward to a trip back to the eighties when it returns. I was not allowed to watch it for the first couple of years on account of the language sometimes used (!) but I don't think there is much chance of a ban being imposed now by my wife. By today's standards it was nothing but there was controversy around this in the early days. I am sure a lot of people will be pleased at its return.

Look for the full length version of the theme tune to the children's television show Hartbeat. Once it goes past the main part it becomes much more like a dance tune

The instant this theme starts I'm back watching my old student-days portable TV, credits rolling up the screen: Julia Brogan - Gladys Ambrose.....Diana Spence - Paula Frances.....Max Farnham - Steven Pinder.....DD Dixon - Irene Marot etc etc. Oh my god, how do I still remember them, 30 years later?! Goes to show how many episodes I watched back in the day. It was unmissable stuff.
