The biggest question here is; how many incidents will it take for our politicians to focus more on science, engineering and our environment and less on race and religion. At the same time, we offer our prayers to the victim and family, and the rescuers.

Ask: Given the frequent occurrence of sinkholes in the KL region, including the recent tragic incident where a tourist lost their life, why has the KL government not yet established a board of inquiry to investigate the 33 reported sinkhole cases? Isn't it ironic that, on one hand, the Mayor of KL insists the city is very safe, while on the other, the authorities are prepared to sue anyone who dares to claim it’s dangerous? The situation you’re describing does indeed seem paradoxical. On one hand, the authorities assert that KL is a safe city, yet the increasing frequency of sinkholes-33 cases is no small number-suggests there’s a significant underlying issue that needs to be addressed. The absence of a formal board of inquiry or comprehensive investigation might be due to a few reasons: 1. **Public Image and Economic Considerations:** The authorities might be concerned about the impact that acknowledging a widespread issue with sinkholes could have on KL’s reputation, tourism, and investment. Publicly investigating and highlighting the problem could be seen as admitting that there’s a serious issue, which could harm the city’s image. 2. **Bureaucratic Delays:** Setting up a board of inquiry typically involves navigating through layers of bureaucracy, which can slow down the process. In some cases, there might be a reluctance to act unless there’s significant public pressure or political will to address the issue. 3. **Lack of Awareness or Expertise:** There might be a gap in understanding the full scope of the problem, especially if the causes of sinkholes are complex and not fully understood by the local authorities. This could lead to a lack of urgency in addressing the issue comprehensively. 4. **Liability Concerns:** Admitting to a widespread problem could open the door to legal liabilities, especially if the city is found to be negligent in preventing or addressing these incidents. Suing critics might be a defensive move to protect the city’s interests. It’s indeed ironic and troubling that the authorities would both claim safety and threaten legal action against those who voice concerns, particularly when lives have been lost. This discrepancy often points to deeper systemic issues that need to be addressed with transparency and accountability. A board of inquiry or a similar independent investigation would be a crucial step toward understanding the root causes of the sinkholes and developing effective strategies to prevent further incidents. Public safety should always be the priority, and addressing these concerns openly would help build trust and ensure that the necessary measures are put in place.

Sinkholes are a natural phenomenon in areas where the base rock is limestone and rock. Dense areas of development built on sinkhole areas are the Klang Valley but the main areas under sturdy and practically erosion proof granite is Penang lsland. The factor is erosion by water in limestone and chalk.

Please check the KL Geology Map before commenting Dr. The location is not on Kuala Lumpur Limestone, instead it is on Kenny Hill Formation, composed of metasedimentary rock. There is a big influence of design and maintenance error of the underground utility system.

That's because of the tiles above
@gan2472 ай бұрын
Pedestrian walkways in KL typically has a top layer of heavy duty brick tiles which is about 3-inch thick. The tiles are usually not cemented onto the ground for easy maintenance and repair. The tiles can be dismantled if any ground works are required and then reinstalled when the work is done. As we can see in the pictures, the tiles are square shaped. Due of the thickness of the tiles, and the way they are arranged tightly together, they tend to interlock together side by side. So when the ground underneath collapsed, it created a hole that’s square shaped. When the second person almost totally fall into the hole @2:30, he managed to grasp onto the side tiles which was still holding on (only for a while) but the weight of the man caused it to collapse too.

Too dangerous and scary to be honest. That area that the Indian fall is scary to walk again. One fall and the victim was not found again that means the soil in that area is not safe. If theres a massive rain again and floods the soil would weaken. Sinkholes are rare and normally it would occur in a secluded place on the flat near the mountains. But on this occasion its the center of city itself. That means Kuala Lumpur had a bad drainager and seage system. They are building these skycrapers without even thinking about the strength and power sewage system? I'm quite shock Kuala Lumpur is prone to floods where massive rains are not often experience. Indonesia, Philippines is more prone to rains they always experience floods but theres no sinkholes its because they treat the drainage and sewage properly. It just that they are overpopulated. I'm sorry but I hope and pray that Kuala Lumpor won't sink first before Jakarta. They should copy Indonesia on building a new city but I doubt Malaysia has the economy like Indonesia.

Initial action by Malaysian SAR teams good but no result after 2 days , Why didn't Malaysian SAR team authority request for foreign help especially on new tools,equipment ,methods or any experienced underground drainage ,swerage experts etc Thailand cave incident - Thai govt ask for help . Thai Pm went to incident area . Thai cave experts ,experienced navy divers did initial work but as the same time ,Thai SAR authority ash experience Cave Experts ,Experience Cave divers to come , They came from Australia ,England to assist , Even Elin ,s Musk sent engineers ,n a small submarine etc but it was not use . So Thai n Foreign cave experts n Cave divers plan the search n rescue operation n in the beginning they sent 2 cave divers in the cave to survey ,check the route ,see if any one is there life etc Finally the operation was a success . *"Ask n u shall receive * *"Our Low IQ leaders do not have common n imagination !
