Do we spend the US Dollar in Nigeria. Do we pay rent, food, etc in the US Dollar. Definitely not. We should stop comparing it with the US Dollar. Can you spend $5 in the US for food. Capital NO. With #1,500 you can get great food

Nigeria is a heavily import-dependent economy, with most activities requiring imports in one way or another. In farming, for example, we rely on imported equipment and inputs for producing fertilizers. A large percentage of our food is imported, and it is doubtful that we have achieved even 50% food sufficiency. Items such as clothing, computers, phones, software licenses, and cars are all imported. Even our infrastructural projects are often executed by foreign companies, using tools and equipment sourced from abroad. The notion that we can rely solely on the Naira and remain immune to foreign exchange dynamics is both unrealistic and laughable.
