Kirstyhasamagicunicorn It's not a commonly accepted or acknowledged extension of the song. I don't think it's an original verse of the lullaby - probably something someone added later to make it more light-hearted. In my opinion, it's awkward to not include it, since you'd be left just singing about a rather detailed and gruesome death of a baby. :/
