No. He was special forces for the British military. He actually is a badass. The point of his show wasn't that he showed off that he could survive, he didn't need to. Again, he was special forces. The point was to teach people how to survive, he'd spend several nights in the wilderness to record, and then when the cameras stopped rolling, he'd take a break and sleep in a hotel room or something. He's known how to survive pretty much anything since the military, he didn't need to prove anything to anyone.
