I love Chows very different to your average dog and can be very cat like . They can have a hell of an attitude, very loyal and also seem unfriendly to strangers but very loyal to their people. They come across as soft and cuddly but...... My parents had a business and after closing they left the door unlocked (we lived upstairs) A policeman was going around checking doors and came into our place. We heard him calling out with an obviously nervous/terrified voice. The chow had him cornered in one room. She didn't attack him but certainly was not going to let him get any where near her family. They also tend to be fairly quite and sneak up on people. Silent and deadly unless you are family. They are not supposed to like water but ours used to like to sit in puddles you can imaging the number of baths and showers we had to have. I think ours used to do it deliberately as she loved the hairdryer after a bath .
