Here's the duo of Sandi & Sally from a 1969 Lawrence Welk show episode with their rendition of Art & Dottie Todd's international hit song "Chanson D'Amour"

The chorus gives me goosebumps! These ladies had the Abba sound even before Abba!

I love it when Sandy and Sally dress like Chorus Girls.

Mr. Welk loved pretty girls and really knew a pretty girl when he saw one as evidenced by all the beautiful ladies he hired for his outstanding television show.

Lucy & Ethel and Alice & Trixie were so concerned about wearing the same dresses....

I don't think they're at all innocent possibly squeaky clean would be a better description, and the song is set to a lower range so its easier to sing. Any very good voice could sing at the original range, but its still easy to listen to and recognise.

A little too up-tempo. Need to slow down just a bit.

Could this arrangement and entire number be any cornier??? Had to restrain myself from hitting the t.d. button !!!! 3-1-18

Looking back, a lot of Lawrence Welk stuff looks pretty corny but it was a much different time then. When I was a kid, my grandparents watched it every week. My parents hated it then and still do today, and I get a kick out of watching it again. It always takes me back to a much happier time.
