Well said! I've done the same. And, anyone with any musical sense knows you don't mess with Minnie unless you've got the chops AND the RANGE to do it justice! Who are we to say that it wasn't a tribute by Chante to someone she greatly admired! With all the half-naked, no voice having vocalists out there, I can truly appreciate the exceptionally underrated artist.

She did a fabulous job, its just that growing up in the era of real soul, we became accustom to hearing the passion. Minnie passion could be heard lingering at the end of every note. It was effortless, free flowing and appeared spontaneous. After great singers like Minnie it appeared singers became more interested in technique and most lacked passion.It all became sort of mechanical.

Although I have to say the rhythm section on the original seemed slightly looser and more in the groove. However, that may be due to the speakers I am using right now. Regardless, job well done!

Watching New York Undercover (S1 Ep22).This is one of my favorite songs and for the most part I dislike when ppl do remakes, but I must say Chante did this justice.When she hit that long high note it brought tears to my eyes.That justified it for me.Minnie is definitely smiling.

I remember when Chante sang this on Video Soul...she did it JUSTICE!...I thought this would be a new single from her but at the same time another R&B artist had recorded the SAME song! So the music label for that artist got the most promotion AND push for her song...and Chante's version got pushed into the background until it was no longer played by radio, in favor of that other lady. I'm still kind of 'bitter' about it....and I think the same thing happened with Chante's single 'Free', it wasn't promoted properly cause someone else was doing the same song, if I recall.
