Kevin, you're alright my friend!!! I really do appreciate this. I was not expecting this at all. I got an idea to repay you for the mushrooms. I'm sure you'll like it. Again, thanks Kevin. My eggs won't be the same. The last batch, Chicken of the Woods, went really well with some scrambled eggs.

I would avoid Ziploc or any plastic bags, basket is best, paper or cotton bag would already be much bette so it can breath.... Tasty!!!
@melissacroft31596 жыл бұрын
seb astien at very least put a few paper towels in the bag to be a barrier. Plastic
@sjt46894 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what they're being packed in, you idjits. I bet the bristles on that brush are also plastic. And the tape on the shipping box etc etc. In this scenario, and many other reasons you might object to plastic being used, it makes absolutely no difference.

I have an idea if you have the can vacuuming attachment with your sealer that wouldn't be so hard on the mushrooms.the con would be shipping would be a little more just an idea.

Hey Kevin I'm in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Do you think these should be coming up in my neck of the woods as well? I've been out looking for him but have not seen them yet. Where do you think I may have missed them?
@Robinson-Homestead7 жыл бұрын
Ride on some old back roads and just look for them they should be there look for a lot of shade and moist areas thanks for the comment Brat.

hey bart, im in s.e.pa as well. found a bunch today. didnt pick any as they all could use a few more days of growth. will be revisiting in a few days. right now i am finding them in mossy areas, neer creeks. cinibar chantrelles mostly(smaller, orange/salmon/pink in color), biggest one i found today was about the size of a quarter. best spot today was a steep hillside, with not all that much leaf litter. hope this is helpful.

Chanterelles don't have true gills. Why would dirt in them be a worry?
@Robinson-Homestead3 жыл бұрын
I just always wash my mushrooms
@kkingquad4 жыл бұрын
How long did you dehydrate them? How long are they good for once they’re sealed?
@Robinson-Homestead4 жыл бұрын
kkingquad,not sure how long just until they seem dry and brittle.if you vacuum pack them they should last for years.
@oldbarnmenagerie27833 жыл бұрын
How long do you dehydrate the chanterelles? 24-hours?
@davidmushinski81963 жыл бұрын
About 12 hours

until you can't feel any softness in them., they should be hard.

What do they taste like?
@RubenFletcher7 жыл бұрын
The last time I had them I remember a earthy taste work a little bit of a button mushroom finish. Mind you it's been about seven years since I've had them.
@Robinson-Homestead7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ruben that's a hard one to explain but you are right little like a button mushroom.

Wild animals roam, nibble and do their business. Rodents, birds go everywhere. Swill under water for hygiene. They will still dry!
