Montreal must have been such an exciting place in the 1960s. So much hope and optimism, along with room for growth! In the 21st century, I propose that Montreal expand its territories. This will of course require a tank plant and several thousand willing volunteers. Also helpful would be some form of self-sufficiency in energy supply, which could be doable if the hydroelectric dams immediately adjacent to the island were taken and held. Now, sustainable expansion into surrounding territories will require a blitzkrieg approach (that is to say, speed and mobility), but one which would present the world with a fait accompli after it's over, and which would provide an easily defensible position with sufficient farmland. The solution? Laval. With the Laval municipal government dissolved, its territories consolidated, and its underpopulated regions settled by Montrealers, I am convinced that Montreal can once again take its rightful place in world history. The pinnacle of this achievement will be a brand new Expo for the 21st century, which shall be called "Montreal and Her Soon-to-be World".
