FYI: Screw Pine/ Seashore Screwpine/ Pandanus Utilis Pandanus, also known as "screw pine" grows in the tropical coastal regions mostly in South East Asian countries like Thailand and the Philippines, locals use Pandanus leaves for cooking. Their leaves have an herbal/floral like aroma and they are used to wrap rice, meat or fish to cook them. They also make a juice extract (pandan paste) from the leaves to use for cooking.

Beautiful day at the beach, a bit overcast, you mentioned it was cool, so I guess the water is cold? Once when we went to Tecolutla, Veracruz, it looked very similar and few people were in the water, but the roast fish and the shrimp cocktails were really GOOD! Fried squid, never tried squid before, is it similar to octopus(on account they both have tentacles)or a flavor all its own? Chao Lao Beach is AWESOME!

Squit is similar to octopus, there are dried and the warm them over charcoal, a very nice snack, even better as a beer snack.

I remember sitting in a hammock watching those crabs for hours ;-) I would roll small pine cones and the crabs would chase them. The house boat was cool pull it to the sea and move to the next beach lol.

@@lifeinthailand How do you live with that, I mean the ubiquitous garbage in TH? In the end it will be what drives me out of TH, more than the strong Baht. It saps any enthusiasm I had to dig deeper into the language and culture. What's wrong with these people? They have the budgets, money is no excuse.
