With that one flip on Crocodilatron, Chaos 2 launched Robot Wars into the Main Stream consciousness & made his builder & driver George Francis a household name.

Series 3 was arguably when contestant robots (at least in the UK) started getting really good. Sure, we had Mortis, Cassius and Razer before then, but they were kind of outliers. Series 3 was a definite step up across the board. Of course, these days we have spinner bots that can throw opponents 10-15ft in the air; but back in 1999 seeing Chaos 2 do this was revolutionary.

I'm not a big fan of series 3 but I certainly agree with you on this point that robots were starting to advance a lot in several areas.

To be honest the quality of the arena wasn't that great back then, pretty sure if napalm 2 drove into the wall there would be some damage.

Chaos 2 has to be the best competing bot ever. I never see anyone repeat at all in any competition.

Never one of my favourites, but I hugely respected Chaos 2 for setting the standards along with Cassius on how to make an effective flipper machine. Also, if you want to play a drinking game here take a shot every time you read the comments, and one of these happens: 1) Joe Andrews telling a fact. 2) Tyler or anyone telling Joe to shut up. 3) Watch Ryan O'Donovan get into an argument in the comments with someone with a response that reads longer than the bible. Enjoy 😂

Word of advice - at least look at how long the Bible is before making such a comparison. Besides, I only care about being right in what I say, whether it’s long or short.

Way to just change the subject there when you were only talking about me giving responses longer than the Bible when it’s vastly the other way around. And so what that you got a reply from me? What, do you think that makes you funny or intelligent? My God, I feel so foolish for pointing out how you don’t know how to compare lengths of typing, nor see when it’s even relevant! 🙄 Laugh all you want - you’ve accomplished nothing.

One Punch Robot. I look back and cringe at how young me resented Chaos 2 for being dominant. Nothing like a live appearance to make you grow up and remember, hey, roboteers are people too. It was one of the first, if not the first appearance by the stars of Robot Wars and Techno Games in NI, with Diotoir and Skeletron also present, as well as Bigger Brother, a last minute replacement for Anarchy and Scuttle, who were in the already printed programmes for the science festival this was a part of. Judges Noel Sharkey and Martin Smith were there too. Plenty of autographs, with Ian Watts joking that he'd gone to the trouble of bringing a marker, but no one was coming near him. The kids are all here to see Chaos 2, of course. School was fun that Monday. I saw the robots from Robot Wars up close! 😁 Thanks George, and sorry, too.
