You go through all these tests and find this artifact to earn your daemonhood and within two minutes of be turned into a daemon prince some random ultramarine claps your skull harder than slaanesh claps elder cheeks. Just imagine popping up in the immaterium and khorne's just like "damn, everything titus did today was more impressive than everything you've done to earn your daemonhood. Fuck outta my realm."

To be fair, it seems he acted more like a Tzeentchy boy than a Khornite to me. Using the corpse of a dead inquisitor, to TRICK space Marines into doing his bidding? Not showing up until later, instead of spearheading the mission? Very Tzeentchy. I think Khorne favored Titus more than whatever his name was. And that ks why Khorne let him die Cause Titus was more of A Khormite Chad, then whatever his name was.

It's interesting how the main villain didn't actually reach full power for once as usually they always do. Nemeroth was only partially transformed prior to being killed; so it makes for a nice change. When I was playing this I expected Nemeroth to become a fully ascended Daemon Prince; so it was definitely a nice surprise despite wanting to see him fully transformed :)

That same armor became his downfall, however. Grimskull lost because he chose a poor battleground; The floor could barely support his no doubt heavy body, as seen by how he fell through it near the end of the encounter. Grimskull was a tactical genius amongst Orks, but that doesn't say much to begin with.

If you read the fluff about the old ones who made the orks (first named "krork"), they were bio-engineered as a self-sufficient warrior race, devoid of fear, doubt or hesitation, created to oppose the necrons.

Andrew Decain Orks can be made to feel fear despite their bioengineering. The Orks as they are in the 41st Millennium are more than likely not identical to the original Krork in genetic makeup as well as physical form. They fear Captain Kayvan Shrike of the Raven Guard, they fear "Old one-eye Yarrick" and his laser eye and Ork Warbosses generally rule in a manner that a human would call "might makes right".

Titus is a bad-ass, no question; his Chapter is arguably THE most hard core of the space marines. That said, there's no way in Hell, even w/all his weapons, that Titus could've beaten Grimskull, as said War Boss had high grade mega armor, along w/his physical superiority. A Big Mek or a Nob in single combat..? sure. But not a War Boss... Certainly not this one!

Nemeroth's Armor was a factor, but Grimskull's Bionic arms were at the very least a good equalizer. (Not to mention he out-massed Nemeroth by a very big margin. Or at least until Nemeroth mutated into a full Daemon Prince.) Simply put..? They BADLY underpowerd him. Grimskull may not be at the same level as Ghazghkull Thraka, or Gorgutz, but he's not ~THAT~ far off, either...

There's a difference though between having specific skills or abilities because you're the MC and having skills or traits out of convenience. Titus can resist the warp, because "reason unknown, he's the main character" he can survive crashing through an ork cruiser that would kill almost any other marine, "because he's the main character" he can punch a daemon prince to death while free falling "because he's the main character" if you fail to provide a reason why he is capable of all of these convenient things while others are not then all that gives you is a Mary sue MC wrapped in plot armor.

Neither Titus, or Nemeroth shouldn't have been able to beat Grimskull, or at the very least, not so easily. Typically, Orks are VERY resistant to warp energies, (more than 2/3's of Nemeroth's arsenal) & they tend to be (War bosses, especially!) FAR stronger than even Space Marines so..?
