@@atlash6387 In the post-Gathering Storm canon? No way in hell they become loyal again, with GW making sure that that Magnus has no soul left and is just a generic doomsday villain actively fighting the Imperium. In the preceding decades however? It actually looked like it had a minuscule possibility. At least Magnus was fine just sitting tight in the Eye of Terror, with TS warbands joining Black Crusades explicitly being outcasts Magnus himself threw out and all the fighting the TS as a legion did being solely targeting the Space Wolves. Given how Magnus was tricked and forced into serving Tzeentch in a position of actually being loyal to the Imperium and deeply desiring to break free of Tzeentch... back then it looked like him actually accomplishing that and, even if not actually re-joining the Imperium, but at least gaining the freedom to do his own thing, might have actually been on the table. Of course, the Imperium of the 41th millennium is such a dogmatic and hostile place, particularly when it comes to exploring arcane arts, that Magnus even in such a situation would rather die than bow to such fools. Least likely I wouldn't say though. Many of the other legions are far too gone as well and had been traitors even before becoming consumed by Chaos. I also thought the Rubric made the TS sorcerers immune to both mutations and warp-induced madness, so even the "regular" TS probably is quite a lot more... coherent... than many of the other traitors.

@MaikelJayksoon2 ай бұрын
A lot of first generation Primaris marines were actually volunteers who were collected during and right after the Heresy to be experimented on by Cawl. Those marines were then kept in stasis until Gullimanns awakening, when he could finally give the Primaris marines the green light (because he also ordered the creation of Primaris marines but was obviously dispatched until the 41st millennium). That is why many Primaris marines (initially known as the nameless legion or something like that) literally went to sleep in 30th millennium and woke up 10000 years later
@Nickname-ef9tv2 ай бұрын
Theoretically Space Marines are immortal, though their profession brings such high mortality rates that it is exceedingly rare to live past 1000 years. Not to mention that some chapters have an unstable genetic setup. Serving 300+ years is already a very good cut. Virtually every Space Marine who gets past 1000 years is either entombed in a dreadnought (basically walking coffins with massive armor and firepower), has been in stasis for some time, or got lost in the warp where time and aging is completely erratic.

aren't they supposed to look like a Primarch or an Impi? Perhaps the Smurf genes are really weak in this piece of coal...

no, gene seed does not explicitly change someones skin colour or features to look like their primarch, in terms of looks, it varies wildly from not at all to looking very like their primarch, its why abbadon for example is such an outlier, he looks like a clone of horus, where many of the legion dont, in terms of skin colour, only the salamanders have a mutation that makes their skin coal black, in no other legion does this happen, the ultramarines recruit from the entirety of ultramar, and so they have people from all cultures and worlds.
@nevermore72852 ай бұрын
The only ones who look like their Primarch are the Alpha Legion, which is kind of their whole thing.
@johndoe55552 ай бұрын
@@nevermore7285 I once heard that the gene seed is dominant and gradually changes the carrier, giving him the features of a primarch. I understand that there are mutations caused by the home world (such as the skin of salamanders). But like, if you’re in a legion of wolves, over time you’ll have long hair and a craving for beer and Valkyries. :) Or if Sanguinius was your dad, then you will also become blond. So yes, the ultra-charcoal looks a little out of place.
@nevermore72852 ай бұрын
@@johndoe5555 there’s minor changes like that, but they aren’t guaranteed and they’re not typically as extreme as a full race lift. Personality changes are much more common, with them taking on some of their Primarchs. Even then, they can still vary heavily.

you do know every legion has every ethnicity depending on their pool of recruits...? Even the Salamanders are actually mostly non-African heritage, just with mutated skin tones masking, again, every ethnicity. The Imperium has probably over a thousand distinct ethnicities. Thus you could have "black" White Scars and Asian World Eaters, or get this, even a Blood Angel who looks like Wesley Snipes, and my personal favourite, Mexican Space Wolves. Viva los Lobos De Fenris! There isn't an African-heritage Primarch though... considering we don't know the missing two's appearances, and Vulkan's ethnotype is not really discernible, and his skin wasn't originally jet black afaik. While some Chapters may appear to have one prevailing complexion over the other, larger Chapters always will feature every Terran phenotype, with a wide variety of traits, almost like the modern British population it analogizes. If you read the books, you would know that, but you're just a child or troll making a comment like that. This response was for passerby. If anything this just demonstrates we need a "black" Primarch, and yes, Shaq is the only look I will accept as inspiration. GW is clearly behind the times. They'll give us female Custodes before a Primarch who can actually dance.

Maybe the lore has changed since I last read it or DEI/ESG pissed all over it. Not surprised though since it is a GW product after all.
@zachar40k2 ай бұрын
if youre talking about black ultramarines, theyve always been possible, gene seed only changes skin colour in the salamanders chapter, and only rarely makes someone look similar to their primarch in terms of facial features, youre getting mad at nothing
@Crucial_End2 ай бұрын
@@zachar40k no because the melanochrome that regulatres the melanin is there to protect against radiation. If the radiation warrants it they would all be dark skinned. Space marines are neither black or white as their skin color changes with the environment. Lore-wise it makes no sense at all that one space marine is dark skinned while the other is not while both are in the same environment. Ultramarines have very stable geneseed too so mutations are exceedingly rare. This was 100% a DEI decision, it makes no sense in the lore and blatant 2024 leftwing politics in media breaks the immersion for many.
