Any tips on removing a rusted in snap ring? I've had my UCA for less than 2 years and the snap ring is completely rusted and fused in on one side only. Also, what are the new snap rings that come in your kits made out of? I don't live in a salty place so these parts shouldn't be rusting like this and I don't want to run into this issue again when I install my new uniball.

I would like to put the uniball conversion you all sale for the 2nd gen 4runner for the lower balljoint, i wonder how much it last longer on daily driving.

what is the od size of the unaball
@JoeC92 Жыл бұрын
I'm guessing for a 3rd gen Tacoma you have to remove the sway bar link as well for the lower so that you can lift the spindle etc? Since the sway bar mounts on the spindle.
@TotalChaosFabrication Жыл бұрын
@JoeC92 yes, for a 3rd Gen Tacoma you'll want to disconnect the sway bar from the spindle on one side, either the side you're working on or the opposite side (this helps to avoid the CV from hitting the disconnected sway bar as you lift the spindle away from the lower control arm.)

Hello, are't both upper and lower uniballs need to be greased?
@Shiryas2 жыл бұрын
What anti-seize and brush are you using? Thank you for this video and the bushing grease one.
@TotalChaosFabrication2 жыл бұрын
The anti-sieze is made by CRC and is their 'Food Grade Anti-Sieze'. Pretty sure the brush is just the applicator that is included from CRC. If not, any small brush or foam applicator will work great.

Could the lower uniball ever get so bad that it would separate or cause major connection failure ? How many miles does a typical uniball last with Just typical road driving ?
@TotalChaosFabrication Жыл бұрын
While anything is technically possible, it's extremely unlikely. A failure to the point of the ball being removed from the race would be the result of severe neglect and a complete lack of maintenance over a very long period of time. Exact mileage is tough to predict due to exposure to varying terrain, maintenance performed, etc.

How would I change a capped uniball set up?? I haven’t found anything on that
@TotalChaosFabrication2 жыл бұрын
Hey JRizz, do you mean a uniball with a cap on top? Once you remove the cap the uniball is exposed and the procedure should be the same as the video.

How can I tell if my uniballs need to be replaced? Are there any symptoms to look out for? Clunking in front end? Clunk feel through steering wheel? How would I know if they need to be replaced.
@TotalChaosFabrication3 жыл бұрын
Hey Brian, worn uniballs will result in a few things including a clunking sound and/or darting steering when going over bumps. More severely worn uniballs will allow you to move the UCA/LCA independently of the uninball, meaning there will be a slight amount of play. Fast forward to about 14:25 in the video and you'll be able to hear the uniball movement. Give us a call/email with any other questions you may have.

I recently installed TC UCAs and broke the lip to the lower misalignment spacer. Exactly what you warned about, it wasn't fully seated. I wish I would have known that. I didn't have the car on a lift, so I couldn't tell if it was fully seated because it wasn't easily visible. I went ahead and filed the edges and installed it that way. Do you think that might cause some issues, if so, do you guys sell the misalignment spacers individually?
@TotalChaosFabrication3 жыл бұрын
Hey Janey, we do sell replacement misalignment spacers. Shoot an email and some photos of your current setup to info@chaosfab.com and we'll go from there. Thanks!

I'm about to have new lower control arms installed on my 2016 5th Gen 4Runner with KDSS. The original units have 66K miles and zero issues. I really don't need to replace the factory Lower control arms. I have ICON Dynamics Level 3 on the upper control arms and a closed system, with zerk fittings allowing lubrication. I'm concerned with the lack of a closed system and means to lubricate the T.C. lower ball joints. In turn, this will leave it open to dirt accumulation and accelerated wear. I'm not willing to pay upwards of $2.3K USD for these lower control arms. Unless I know they will last at least 70K miles. What is the projected life of the lower ball joint of your system??????

Update from my prior post. I have snaprings that are completely fused in from under 2 years of use. This video is completely misleading because it makes it appear the snaprings are removeable with snapring pliers. They aren't. I have soaked in PB blaster overnight, tried chiseling them out, tried using an air gun to loosen. Tried prying them out. Nothing gets them to move even slightly. I am going to have to remove them by cutting them out. And, cutting them out will be a nightmare to do without damaging the slot these go into. And my uniballs got less than 2 years before failing. So just FYI for anyone looking at total chaos parts. Do not buy them unless you want to fully replace your UCAs every two years. Junk product. Waiting for my ICON UCAs and excited to be done with this high maintenance junk.
