These are definitely heavy hitter fragrances and although I'm not a huge Aventus fan, the success and influence it's had can't be denied! The One EDP is timeless. I just can't see it going out of style. Perhaps in 50 more years, but it works so so well. A recent one I tried that I feel is a masterpiece, Blackmail by Kerosene. So well put together. Also Black Phantom by Kilian. Love that one too, love at first sniff and I love gourmands. Perhaps finally, I would add Italica! Another masterpiece.

I have every fragrance on this list and it's scary how your initial impressions mirror mine. With Dior Homme Intense and La Nuit it was love at first sniff. And just like you when I first smelled Baccarat Rouge 540 at the mall I was confused, but when I was walking around the mall I kept getting whiffs of the fragrance in the air and couldn't stop smelling my arm to get smell it over and over again.

Idea for a video... fragrances that aged well...or fragrances that age like a fine wine. I have many fragrances that I feel matured with time. One that comes to mind is Guerlain L'Homme Ideal Cologne. It was a powdery mess at first. I'm not sure if it was just my nose, but I sure feel like it didn't just 'grow on me'. I feel like the aging process dramatically improves some fragrances. Another I think changed on me is Armaf Milestone. OR, maybe do a "colognes that evolved nose"... What are the scents that made you appreciate a certain note... OR, how about my favorite fragrance (not breakdowns...just an overall list) for each unique scent like: with almond, lavender, ambroxan, ambergirs, sandalwood, iris, etc ambergris: club de nuit intense man Almond: Guerlain L'Homme Ideal Eau de Parfum Mint: Versace Eros/Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme Ginger: YSL L'Homme etc...

If I remember correctly, Valentino Uomo Intense has been discontinued since 18/19. The ones I have are from 18 and their longevity & projection are straight up beast mode. Lasts easily +12hours.

To me Bleu de Chanel EDT is a masterpiece because of the high quality blend of the different notes and the shining grapefruit opening that's almost unbeatable. Recently I bought a sample of Creed Aventus because it is generaly regarded as "the king of fragrances". I must say I'm not a fan of it and it's certainly not worth the money. It's almost a one note fragrance to me. The only thing I smell from the beginning to the end is smoky birch.

Some masterpieces and the reasons why I think that these are masterpieces for me personally: Chanel AHSEE: like D&G the one, this scent is appreciated by everyone around you. It's just so pleasant, very versatile. CH men Privé: Scent DNA is one of the best out there imo, so sexy sweet leathery. Acqua di Gio Pr.: personal all time favorite, I can use it anytime, I use it mainly for work and for the gym also (coz I can :) Dior Sauvage EDT: I just ordered a 200ml bottle. It's just so good man. The best thing is nobody wears it where I live, so it gets lots of attention when I wear it. Dior Homme Eau/Prada L'Homme: I just love Iris. Those two have iris which don't come across as make-up to me, that's why I love them most in the iris category (and also Valentino Uomo Intense which I only wear in the winter) Rasasi Hawas: I wouldn't consider it as a masterpiece to be fair, but it's my most complimented fragrance so far in my collection. It's rather simple, but really crowd-pleasing. What are your experiences with the fragrances I mentioned? Let me know, folks.

In no specific order. Vintage versions of: A&F Fierce, YSL La Nuit de L'homme, JPG Le Male, D&G The One edp, Liz Claiborne Curve, Givenchy Play Intense, Tom Ford Oud Wood, Thierry Mugler Pure Malt, Versace Eros, Prada L' homme. All of these take you from introverted fly on the wall to "Damn who smells so good" "I wish my husband smelled as good as you" etc

The one edt pre reformulation was a masterpiece. new edt is not good. edp is just something close to pre reformulation but not as good. Not good enough to replace it. L'homme line gives my friend intense nausea so i stopped looking for buying it i got discouraged.

In my opinion Creed Aventus is not a masterpiece. Its 200$ and I think its not that unique or special that it deserves masterpiece status. Yeah its well known, its hyped, imo overhyped, and a selling giant. It is the high class dior sauvage. Great fragances, I agree but they dont blow my mind. They are missing the special something. Aqua Di Gio Profumo has that extra kick for example. Or if we go to the Creed's... Bois Du Portugal is such a bomb imo.

'La Nuit de 'LHomme' and 'The One' EDP... smell great, for about 30 minutes... Both are watered down and have terrible performance and poor longevity, so what's the point... Masterpiece? Yeah. No.. A masterpiece is a long lasting, solid performing fragrance that gets massive compliments and is usable in almost any situation. Besides Aventus (maybe), Elysium or BR540, none of these are masterpieces IMO.
