I love the kitten updates, you guessed correctly. I think the best investment we've ever made for a power outage is a big power bank that's powerful enough to start a dead car battery. (I've even heard of a power bank that's powerful enough to plug an appliance like a fridge.) If you don't want to mess with a generator, a power bank big enough to start a car is definitely a good alternative. It can charge your devices forever. And you'll have it to jump start a car battery too. Another good investment for prolonged power outages were solar lights, like the kind that people put in their yard as decorations. We powered them outside during the day and then we'd have them from sunset until we went to bed. They might not work when there's actively a storm and it's too cloudy to charge them, but they were handy for the 2 weeks we didn't have power after the storm went away cause it meant we could charge them without using batteries or a power bank.

I didn't lose any power in Ottawa so that was nice. For future reference food lasts about 48hrs if you don't open the fridge/freezer!

a calico cat i fostered was adopted out to what seemed like a great family but not even 3 months later, i see a an identical cat with exact same markings roaming around the garbage near my place. trapped this new friend and took to vet to find it was the same cat i had fostered and the new family didn't even bother to change the microchip registration. i was so heartbroken I took her home and kept her. I know you love the kittens and please be cautious about who you select to adopt them. I only let my network of friends and family adopt from me now now and I make sure to let anybody that adopts from me know that at anytime, they can bring the cat back to me and I will refund them my shelter's adoption fee. the guilt i felt having picked the wrong family this one time (that I know of) makes me keep all my cats as long as needed to find the best home with a proven track record of loving their feline friends.

I had one of those weird coincidences where I had checked how long City of Stairs is like 30 minutes before watching this video. 😛 I have the trilogy on my Kindle app and am planning to start it sometime next week. I just finished reading I who have never known men, I absolutely loved it. It’s wild to think at the end of the book the main character writes her story, truly thinking she’s the only survivor and thought it pointless. Turns out us as readers of the story infact have discovered her..

4:03 "you know how they just throw you into the story, and they have a bunch of words and you're like..." That's what happened with Hyperion, it wasn't the pain killers, the first part is word salad unless you've read it before. I read Hyperion and didn't like it, and I'm 99% sure you wouldn't either ( wasn't the worst thing in the world, but it was fairly misogynistic and a fair bit of weird sex stuff).
