It's time for a new adventure! After having trekked through many of these games time and time again, I wanted to have one final ultimate challenge in the vanilla mainline Pokemon franchise... Can I beat, every SINGLE Pokemon game in chronological order in a hardcore nuzlocke setting, and without reusing a single Pokemon in any other game? For instance, if I use Bulbasaur in Red version, I won't be able to use it in Blue, Yellow, Firered, or any other game. Come along on this journey with me and find the struggles, the cuts, the innovations, the strategies, and the potential laughs along the way.

Rules of the challenge:
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch one Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

As a professional Crohn's haver, big thanks, very epic! Edit: btw gamers, if you want a way to help those with IBS but don't have any money, I recommend just taking pre-cautions against germs, quite a few of us are on medications that suppress immune responses, so things like a cold are a lot more annoying and can even cause bigger issues. Masking (if you can), handwashing, not going out while sick, and stuff can really help, especially during flu season.

25:53 its easy to forget, since Magneton's model is floating in the air, but it IS a grounded Pokémon, every mon that doesnt have Levitate, the Flying type, or that is holding an Air Balloon or is under the effect of Magnet Rise or Kinesis is a grounded pokemon. Basically, if it can be hit by a ground type move, it is a grounded Pokémon and therefore can enjoy the benefits of the terrains. (Also, Fairy Terrain isnt a thing yet, it only shows up starting in gen 7, presumably because they needed something for Tapu Fini)

You can get through the whole game with just your starter, even if they are slightly overleveled at times. Meaning you probably don’t need more than three on a team if you don’t plan to over level. I thought X & Y were the last good ones, to be honest. It revitalised pokemon for me and some of my college friends. I agree that some aspects of the game started to get dumbed down too much (like move effectiveness being shown on the screen, which doesn't reward your familiarity for the game, and the team-wide xp share that obliterated all of the game's difficulty) but I also think some things gained much-needed changes. Like, building competitive pokemon became just the right balance in this gen, where it's not EZ PZ like the most recent games while not being a super arcane and luck-based process like in earlier gens. Just my 2 cents though.

For a challenge run, maybe limit yourself to *No packs* But you can farm cards from the NPCs who will sometimes give you a card if you beat them. And you can use the password system to buy duplicates of cards you already own. Or just mod/hack the games to have access to all the cards from the start, and limit yourself to some fun/jank/meme decks. Like a Zombie World only deck or somthing. Or just do a Lightsworn Only speedrun of the games. JD turbo+Jain Beats+Celestia sweeps.

@@solgaleo3533 The final boss of SV still shares a weakness with every other important fight in the game: the Pokémon don't cover their own or their team's weaknesses very well, so they are likewise susceptible to getting countered or swept. The biggest difficulty would only be for a blind playthrough where you didn't know the typings or stats of the Paradox Pokémon, but that's hardly ever the case. TL;DR: "optimal strategies" break SV pretty hard.

If you have an idea of generally what you’d want to go for I can help narrow down and recommend specific cheats.

I love that all the gens with regions based on Japan (1-4) are pretty widely considered to be classics, the gens with regions based on the U.S. (5 and 7) are widely considered to be great returns to form that did a lot to revitalize the franchise and then all the gens with regions based on European countries (6, 8, and 9) are controversial as hell and often considered mediocre at best. Everything is as it should be.

Not sure what challenge you would do, but something in the Golden Sun series would be awesome. It's my favorite game series of all time. Maybe prove how superior psynergy is to ordinary folk by not using any armor/weapons? Or prove you're just as good as any warrior even without psynergy, and no psynergy use in battle (obviously can't manage without psynergy outside of battle unless there are tons of bug based skips I'm unaware of). Either way I imagine no in battle healing items. I don't know, there are surely options out there. Alternately, play Ghost Trick. The challenge: don't let anyone spoil the plot of Ghost Trick. And play Ghost Trick. Seriously, everyone should play Ghost Trick (and don't let anyone spoil it for you, please, this game deserves to be played unspoiled).

XY doesn't deserve the few content and Pokemon label. They 3d modeled and animated every Pokemon up to this point, models that the next 2 gens profited from in workload (even though swsh should really have made new ones). Sure the game is easy but all the added ease of life features meant that getting into competitive battling was finally accessible and fun.

After all the negativity at the start I will give my absolutly unpopular, but honest opinion: X and Y are among the best Pokémon games for me personally. And I always wondered why exactly. But it's the replayability that a lot of the other modern Pokémon games lack, I guess. XY are pretty short and fast games, much like Gen 1 and together with Gen 1 are among the Generation I replayed the most, because it's fast and easy. Sure, the pacing is a bit off in parts, but that's not a problem in my eyes. For Nuzlockes especially I love the long stretch between gyms 1 and 2, where you have a nice big roster of Pokémon you can encounter, while in a lot of other Generations you almost certainly go with the same team over and over and over for the first half of the game. Plus, I like the story and still wish for a continuation/ pre-story to it, to make it a bit clearer what is really going on. And, last but not least, XY has hands down the best ending credits of ALL Pokémon games. They make me teary every time and they manage to get me to turn up the volume every time, a feat NO OTHER GAME else had ever managed. Not to mention the fun I had with friends, me remembering college time etc. Personal stuff on the side. Are XY the best Pokémon games ever made? No, surely not. If I had to rank the games, I will put BW2 over them every time. Are XY deserving the hate? No, absolutly not. They are probably the best games for casual players who only have the time to spend a handfull of hours a week to play. The games probably had the worst timing, which helped to fuel the bad reputation: Black and White started when the Internet and social media just begun to get popular (as in widespread and accessible) and XY hit the mark when social media became the #1 platform for "information" and "discussion" and therefor got the attention of all those loud negative voices social media is full of. Funnily enough, the trend slowly reverses now, as it did with Black and White some years ago. People start to feel nostalgic about the games or at least Kalos - a thing that WILL happen for Galar, too, I predict. Long story short: Whenever someone tries to talk XY down, remember that there are people out there that GENIOUNLY love those games, for one reason or another (and I'm not alone. My whole friend group from college and some people of the wider community share my opinion - they just don't voice it). Try at least to point out one positivity - as we are able to acknowledge the negative sides as well.

No hate towards X/Y being really enjoyable to you, but this is just adding fuel to my believe, where most people's favorite Pokemon generations or ones that they enjoy are mostly fueled by nostalgia. Having played X right when I turned 13 I've got a wee bit of nostalgia for it, especially with how cool of a concept I think Mega Evolutions are, but even then I realized "Wow, this is NOT as good as the last two sets of games. What happened?" and saw the whole secondary team debacle. My nostalgia lies more in Gen 5 since my parents imported the JP versions of both Black and Black 2, so I got to play them with that added level of challenge, since I couldn't read what was happening, nor was there enough documentation at the time to look up what to do. I can totally understand overlooking a game's faults and still enjoying it. I mean heck, I do that with Sonic 06 of all games, I had a blast playing the multiplayer with friends during elementary and middle school because of how jank and broken everything was, and I still have nostalgia for it despite the cavalcade of mistakes made. And yeah, around that time with the internet truly blowing up, X/Y did start getting eviscerated. The weird thing is though, so was Gen 5 as a whole. Point being, the best Pokemon game is always gonna be the one the majority of internet users are most nostalgic for, despite half of the series being mid. After having played through every game in this franchise over a dozen times each at this point, I think I can comfortably say that while still enjoying what I play.
@RocketJo86
@RocketJo86 2 жыл бұрын
@@ChaoticMeatballTV I totally agree with you that nostalgia plays a HUGE role in this for sure. Otherwise I could not understand myself why I enjoy Red and Blue of all games so much (really, that's not even overlooking the flaws, it's embracing them ^^). But in the case of XY specifically I can say that I never understood the hatred against it, not even back in the days. Sure, there was a huge fall from BW2 and there where some design choices I will never truly understand (mostly: What about Hard Mode?). But after Diamond/Pearl (which are bad games in my eyes - never played Platnum until recently) and especially after both Unova titles that where really long and challenging I enjoyed a shorter, easier game with good and easy Shiny Hunting and Breeding methods. XY where the games that got me into competetive and into shiny hunting because they made both really accessible (and XY still had the best breeding mechanic/ spot/ possibility up until SV). Point here: I can actually give arguments beside nostalgia why I think XY are good games. And I never see people hating on ORAS (on the contrary), which are as easy (very downwashed difficulty from Emerald), have the same EXP mechanics and just gift you a legendary half-way through. If people hate on XY for being too easy (which is the argument mostly made), they shouldn't like ORAS for the same reason. -> This is some sort of nostalgia in action. What is a thing that bugs me - not about your video here or about peoples opinion on XY, but something more basic - is, that people seem to overlock the positives that exist within the games (and I mean "games" as a whole, not just XY, not just Pokemon) for the sake of talking them down. If someone acknowlades that there are good or at least neutral parts or that the flaws they see can be beneficial to someone else and they still don't like the game, that's good to me. I'm not happy with choices made by the devs and the publishers myself. But I try not to only voice my negative opinions. I really try hard, whenever it comes to DP *lol*

The German Bulbapedia (Pokewiki) lists the moves (and abilities) for every Pokemon trainer on every route, the moves are even colour coordinated with their type, so you could probably get away with not knowing what they are. You would have to click on the individual Pokemon to bring up their move list as well. IDK if this is worth it at this point, but info is info.
