Great video. I am an electrical engineer, own an audio video company and have done many alarm panels over the years. I have come to the conclusion that the makers of security equipment purposely make their manuals vague and hard to understand. I know other security experts who have left Honeywell products and moved to DSC simply because they were much easier to install. (Of that I have no experience.) Your video made this process much more understandable and was a great help to someone that only does a panel every now and then. If I don't program a key fob for another year, I will probably need to watch this again.

I prefer Honeywell. DSC can be annoying and it's very hard to program anything without an alpha keypad. I can program almost anything except wireless devices with a regular Honeywell keypad (6150). And a full English keypad (6160 or others) make everything much easier.. The backdoor method on a Vista panel is also much easier to get into if you don't have the installer code and doesn't delete all the programming. With a DSC panel, you have to wipe out the entire panel if you don't have the installer code. Harder to do a takeover and more time consuming. The all-in-one panels now are much better though. I use a lot of 2gig panels and out of the box they can much so much more than a basic Honeywell or dsc panel with a can and basic keypad.

I used zimsjeep's videos to setup the "D" key on the 6160 keypad to open/close the garage door with a relay connected to trigger 17. Is there a way to use a loop on a keyfob to open/close the garage door?

you forgot to mention assigning a user number and then entering go-no-go test, plus exiting go-no-go. Easy for us to figure out, as installers, but as noobs it would be a nightmare to watch this and get stuck 😛

May I ask a question? I have a Honeywell Vista 15p. I noticed that the event history does not capture normal system turn Ons and turn offs. I would think that would be important info to be captured. Do you have any thoughts on that? Thank you.

followed the video but at the end the part of authorizing the fob, is not letting me cause when I enter the button code for authorizing the fob I dont get the beep confirmation and the 6160rf is displaying Check 100 RF Receiver help!

Why I have check zone on all remotes showing on my keypad. I did programing exacly like you showing and was warking. One day without errors and next day I have check zone for all zones used with keyfob. Can you help please ?

Hi I followed the video. However when I press the keyfob button nothing happens. However I do see red led light blinking on wireless receiver when I press keyfob button. I don't know where to check next. Do you think bad wireless receiver?

Before programming, pressing any key on key fob. If it flashes red, it's security mode. Please change it to standard mode by pressing "Disalarm (B) + Stay (C) + Panic (D)" at the same time until it flash green. If no green flash comes up, release the key and press any key to see if flash green. When it's on security mode, you can't authorize the key fob after programming it.

@@sonofpaul7388 You shouldn't disable high security mode. Makes it very easy for someone to steal your key fob's serial number and disarm your system. It's easy to pair keyfobs in high security mode, there's a video by Resideo on how to do it.

Can there be two keyfobs for one V20 security system? Can they conflict?

You have to add a code to the system under a user number and authorize it with the wireless fob attribute before it will be accepted.

Were you aware those remotes allow for dual button press (sends a different serial #) which would be a much better option for panic than a single button press.

At 4:08, I think you meant to end up with a Report Code of 10, however, you typed 10 into the first box. This resulted in a hexadecimal code of A0.

You’d need a 6160RF since the 6150 is not suitable for programming the system.
