There are contacts that mount on the side track so no need to drill concrete, if you don't have a concrete bit. You can also mount the contact in this video on top of the door but if someone drives through your door it might not cause the contact to open.

I plan on making more soon. This is my winter hobby. As soon as the weather turns, I'll be back at it. Is anything chiming? You might have it turned off globally. Enter your code then hit chime. If its only one door the isnt chiming, you'll need to edit the programming for that zone type.

The wires are installed on the wrong side of the screws. When you tighten down the screw, the force of the screw head is supposed to wrap the wire around the head, not force the wire out from under the head. You can easily re-do every screw terminal by inserting the wire on the left side of each screw, not the right side.

Awesome video, we are just starting to integrate the Vista 20p into our product line. I just wanted to ask if there was any direction that the 2k resistor has to be installed in (meaning the colors on the resistor), or does direction make no difference. Also, I remember from the installation instructions that some zones called for a 3k resistor in the down side and a 6.2k on the up side ( I believe that it was 6.2k) can you address the reason for that? Is it because of the shared commons?

In this example, why use a configurable zone when you could easily just use Zone Type=02? You discuss the different option but I didn't see where you explain your logic.

I have configured TCC800 Fob at Galaxy 48 panel. It is working but it generates 1 tamper zone error message related with 1008 PA when I press any of the buttons. I think it has to do with termination a kind of EOL or something. I have nothing connected at RIO 1 and RIO 2 outputs. Could they give a tip how to resolved this?

Not to change the subject,I'm thinking of installing a tamper switch with an eol in my A/C condenser unit in case someone tries to steal it,we've been having thefts of condenser units getting stolen in our area.I have a pair of unused wires in the low voltage cable coming from the air handler into the condenser unit,all I have to do is run a cable from my panel to the air handler and install a tamper switch on the wiring cover on the condenser unit,does this sound like a good idea?

That's a great idea. If you don't mind me asking, where are these thefts taking place? Your wiring plan sounds like it would work well. Just make sure you mark both ends of the existing ac wiring you'll be using for the new alarm zone so no one ever trys to use it for something else ac related..

can someone explain what the lo/hi on a alarm panel mean. For example a vista 20p has terminals 12-13-14. where 12 is hi.. 13 is lo.. 14 is hi. 13 is also the common.

Think of hi and low like positive and negative. The low side is shared for the two high terminals/zones on each side

Ok seriously if you do that you burn the fuse at the top left hand side of the circuit board which will then have to be replaced. If not, your keypad will beep uncontrollably until you do. If there is no fuse and its a diode and you left it plugged in in reverse, it's time for a new panel

Darby Day Resistors provide zone supervision when installed correctly. If someone was to cut one of the zone wires and attempt to short it to simulate a normally closed loop, the control panel would see a change in resistance on that specific zone and show the zone as open. This only works correctly when the resistors are installed as end of line (EOL). If they're installed in the panel, you're defeating the purpose of them.
