Chapin, South Carolina is known as the "Capital of Lake Murray" and is 24 miles northwest of Columbia, South Carolina. This small lake town of less than 1,700 residents is a popular place for people wanting to enjoy the beautiful lake - Lake Murray! Chapin is located in Lexington County but is separated from the rest of the county by Lake Murray.
Chapin is named after Martin Chapin in 1889. Martin Chapin and his wife Laura Anne settled in the area known as Chapin in the 1850s. Chapin is known for Lake Murray which was built in the 1920's - Mr. Chapin never saw the lake because of his death 25 years before. Chapin has it's own high school - Chapin High School - home of the Eagles! The school of a little less than 1,500 students were established in 1924. Chapin High School is one of 4 high schools in the Lexington & Richland County School District 5.

I live near Chapin. I stop in and/or drive through it often. Yet, apart from CHS, it was a little disorienting to see the town from above since I didn't immediately recognize several of the ground-level landmarks. Will have to watch this again. Definitely. The area including Lake Murray very is appealing in Spring (in spite of the pollen!). Note: everything listed as "main attractions" following "Market Place of Chapin" in the introductory comments is more than 20 and up to 30+ miles away!

Thank you Doug B. Appreciate your comments and I hope you liked the video. Chapin seems to be a small layback next to a large lake town - which I like. Flew the area considered as downtown. Seems like I need to get with you to learn more about the Capital of Lake Murray which would be great.
