Chaplain Departure Ceremony Training Joint Base Charleston

Departure (Ramp) Ceremonies are a time honored tradition of paying respect to military service members who have fallen in the field of battle. It is important for Chaplains to understand the basic process and outline when paying tribute to fallen heroes through these short and solemn events. With a strong knowledge of the departure ceremony, the Chaplain is better equipped to provide a higher level of ministry to the units and leadership in which they are called to serve.
This training video will give an overview of the brief unofficial departure ceremony. When Chaplains arrive at their location, it is important to research the installation operating instructions for specific details when executing a departure ceremony. This training focuses on the following areas:
* Official publications
* Coordinating agencies
* Overview of Chaplain Duties
* Brief walk-through of events and formations
* Follow-on care for units and families
This video will not cover the dignified transfer process at the Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations located at Dover AFB, DE or other services such as memorials, funerals, and final internments. This video was produced specifically as a training tool for Chaplains in all service branches.
