The best explanation and exercises that I had ever seen. 🤗THANK YOU for with us... The first exercise I discovered by myself while thinking last night😉🤗I have done it and I felt immediately the muscles ones extended other contracting.... They were working well for the first time in many years..... My problem was loads of books to carry during high school, college and work, and I even go to horse riding in dressage at the weekend and nobody notice that I had a pelvic tilt.... Right hip a tiny more elevated that the left...but I felt something was wrong... I had to ask for a complete spine x ray.... To the doctor... I was right 🤭unbelievable 🤪. So I decided to take this issue by myself nd search all that I can to correct it.

I have a lateral pelvic tilt and a slight bit of idiopathic scoliosis. I've been to PT for both, and they told me I was SOL and to put a shoe lift in. Not that I'm opposed to a shoe lift entirely, it's just a bandaid solution in my opinion and I wanted to get to the route of it. The exercises they had me doing, did not work and created more imbalance. I've had this problem for about ten years now. Finding this video, I've done these exercises today, and opening up my right side feels literally SO amazing. I'm hopeful that with time of doing these to correct my bunched up muscles, maybe my tilt be less evident and I'll experience little pain in everyday life. My tilt is about 1.25" and my right shoulder sits a bit higher as well from the overcompensation pushing everything up. Stay tuned to see if this finally helps me! 🤞

I believe I have a pelvic tilt n my right side, but nobody has being able to pin point it. Some pt told me I have piriformis syndrome, other told me I have arthritis n my right side of my SI joint. Is been 2 years 7 different doctors, hip, spine specialist,.pt, chiropractors and nobody has being able to help me, and the level of pain keeps increasing. My whole right side, SI joint, sacroiliac area, feels so irritated, my external rotator of that glutes feels tight and triggers as sciatic pain joint n my right glute, the front of my hip like around the groin right where the hip and leg flex and extends it hurts too, when I sit, drive, as dull, or stabbing pain sometimes...my right knee feels wrong, as if is trying to give up inwards the and recently began hurting too. I'm wondering if you could post a video of how to self asses yourself to know if there is any type of tilt n the hip area? I really want to understand what is causing so much pain, my mri xray doesn't show much but slightly arthritis... i tried so joint shot but it is helping much neither.... I keep feeling pain anf as right side bones are "twisted" out of place if that makes sense.

Hi Greg, Could you please help me determine if this is right or left lateral pelvic tilt? I experience a lot of tightness on my right side with little to no activation of my right glute. When doing isolated exercises my right glute is noticeably weaker than my left. I experience tightness in the hip and backside of the hip, and find it more difficult to sit cross legged using my right leg vs my left (maybe because of the muscles on the back of the hip into my back?). In addition I've got a slightly raised shoulder on the left side. I have watched both of your videos but I am having some difficulty determining which to follow. Thanks in advance!

I recently came across your videos and I'm so glad. I really like the fact that you have videos on lateral pelvic tilts. I'm pretty sure that this is what I have since I had a fall a few years ago. It feels like my left hip is tilted and I struggle with raising and dropping my left hip. I've noticed it more since I've become more athletic. Whenever I squat or deadlift I feel like I'm not coming up at the same angle (additional tugging in the left hamstrings) and when I try to stretch my left oblique I feel a tugging in my pelvis.
@ChaplinPerformance4 жыл бұрын
Again you have a few clues that the pelvis is being pushed forward more on the left than the right and you've likely got hamstrings that like to behave in a lengthened state on the left. You mention raising and dropping the left hip. What I often find useful in these circumstances is a standing hip hike variation in a slight bit of posterior pelvic tilt with the left foot behind the right foot, right foot elevated. If you get it right you should feel your butt on the right and like you pelvis is getting pushed back and to the left via the right foot. Hope that helps!

@@saranyamurugan502 some people do have one leg longer than the other if that's the case put an extra insole in your shoe on the side with your shorter leg.... So does your right hip hurt? What I do to relieve some of the pain, is mostly stretching exercises, for quick temporary relief, stand up just stretch down to touch your toes do not bend your knees hold it for 5 seconds straighten up and repeat it a few times try to go as low as you can with your back you'll feel a good stretch in your glutes, next side stretches, in a standing position put one hand on your right hip and raise the other hand straight up and lean to your right side and stretch and then do the opposite side repeat a few times. Don't overdo these exercise just a little stretching like this everyday helps. And if your hips still hurt put an extra cushion insole in the shoe on the side that doesn't hurt.

Thanks for watching. You are very much on point! When the pelvis gets pushed from the back the front of the pelvis can create an uncomfortable sensation in the inguinal region (psoas and abdominal oblique most likely) as it "impinges" against these structures.

Crepitus is pretty normal. Also, changes in the body that happen fast are usually just part of an acute response. My recommendation is ease off the research and just chill out. Researching, self diagnosis and anxiety producing behaviors will likely make things feel worse than they are. Go to the MD and get it checked out when things calm down a bit. Thanks very much for the video. I’m 41 and recently had a anterior hip replacement. Before surgery my left leg was a little over 1.5” shorter than the right. I wore a lift in my shoe. After surgery thankfully the doctor corrected this to within about 1cm difference. I no longer wear a lift however I noticed the right side of my pelvis is still high creating a noticeable functional difference in leg length. This is causing terrible lower back pain. My PT says that once the pelvic tilt is rectified it will help correct the deficit. I’m just curious if these exercises will still help with my legs still being about 1cm off? Thanks again.
@ChaplinPerformance4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. This type of question is always tough to answer as a PT. If there is a change in structure, there may be a remaining deficit, however with a 1 cm difference, I assume that you will progress fantastically with your PT and achieve a high level of function. Anterior hip replacement is a surgery with typically a very good outcome. I would recommend you follow your PTs program. They will likely be able to focus in on the best exercises for you.

Hi Roberta. Thanks for watching. Im afraid I’ll be unable to give you a recommendation for exercise. My recommendation would be to locate a physical therapist in your area and see if you can work on some progressions specific to you. Since I haven’t assessed you I cannot provide you with a recommendation. Also, it sounds to me like you struggling with this from a psychological perspective as well. Cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance commitment therapy might be good options to explore, both of which are shown in peer-reviewed research to help with chronic pain.

If your belly button points to the right (pretty severely) in a neutral position, I am assuming thats a right lateral pelvic tilt, correct?

Great video, thank you! Could the pelvic tilt come from having one leg slightly longer than the other? I have a right tilt, and that also causes me unbalance in the shoulders and neck muscles, which constantly hurt. Thanks!!
@ChaplinPerformance2 жыл бұрын
I would say usually the leg is not actually longer than the other but appears as such secondary to repositioning of the hip socket relative to the ground (on on side more than the other).

I have been told by several health professionals that’s my “right hip is rotated forward.” I’m having trouble determining if that’s a right or left lateral rotation by your definition. I can’t see it by looking at my body the way some PTs say you can see it. I know my lower right back is more tender when I do any stretch. I do yoga so I can do most of your stretches. Hamstrings and IT bands are very tight. Does this make sense?
@ChaplinPerformance2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rhonda. It is difficult to say just from your description. However, if the right side is truly forward, it could really go either way. The farther we push over towards the right side, the more forward the right hip appears to move. In either case, you almost always would want to work on moving the right side back and opening up the stuff area of your back.

No one gives information about the state of the QL or Psoas. Is the QL weak and has to compensate ( weak glutes?) or is it too strong (and the opposite side has to be strengthened?), so it's pulling me to the right side because the left side is too weak? With stretching alone, nothing will get much better I guess...

My right shoulder is higher, especially obvious when I walk, and when I do dog and bird, and also when swimming, my left left leg can lift higher than the right side. Does it mean that my left side of the pelvis is higher ? Is that any way to self test ?
@ChaplinPerformance3 жыл бұрын
Lifting higher like a straight leg raise? If this is the case, then you probably have the right side of the hip and the right side of the shoulder up, both hiked up. This is a strategy to substitute for lack of internal rotation, which you would need to extend the leg in a bird dog or to lift the right leg into a straight leg raise.
@ChaplinPerformance3 жыл бұрын
Self tests would include hip IR, straight leg raise, and hip flexion. All should be limited on the right greater than the left.

Does having a ACL surgery or any knee surgery cause lateral pelvic tilt?
@2fastnfurious4u3 жыл бұрын
I identified myself with left AIC right BC pattern, I guess it has elements of both left and right lateral pelvic tilt in your case (right leg appears shorter as right hip is higher, anterior left ribs externally oriented, right internally)?
@ChaplinPerformance3 жыл бұрын
That would be classic right BC, left AIC. To actually get to the point where a left lateral pelvic tilt is visualized, a significant amount of left posterior (pelvis and thorax) compression would need to be present. I am talking about a specific presentation (extent of compensation) in each of these videos, but the left AIC and right BC patterns are very much in play.

Hi there… expansion of the left upper rib cage is crucial in this case. I am the same. Gentle exhales to get left obliques, inhales will shoulder activation and cervical rotation to the same side to open up the back of the rib cage

Hi there. The position of your body during these exercises will affect the capabilities of expansion in the rib cage. Throw in a little oblique crunch by bringing the hip towards the lower rib cage on the left. Maintain that during your inhalation and you should get expansion on the right. Hope that was helpful!
