Nobody goes here. Nobody cares about this amazing peak. I wanted to see if I could work out WHY? Join me on this very windy wild camp in the Lake District where I almost lose my mind over the incredible views at sunset and very nearly lose my tent!

Dude, I'm so glad I found your channel. I love your content and you seem like an absolutely top bloke to me. That thought you had about us evolving with nature; I have those thoughts all the time ... the deep evolutionary connections we have, even with trees - our ancestors lived in them! We're all the living representation of millions of years of evolutionary processes established in nature and now we all live and work in boxes where everything is readily available. Really makes you think about how important nature is to us. Thank you :)

Superb Thank You. What a fantastic night out. Takes me back to the early 80's as a professional geologist mapping on those very hills , in particular Red Dell, Wetherlam and across to Levers Water & Brim Fell. You were right that was bedded tuft, although quite which group within it is difficult to tell, my hunch is the Duddon Hall Tuff Formation, which is around 450 MY old. Keep it up, the standard is fantastic.

Hi. New subscriber here 😊Loved this video and particularly you saying about the joy it brings you and the fact it fills your soul & connects you to the earth. I adore my solo hiking & feel exactly the same when I’m out with no one else around, just me & nature. Totally restorative. I’ve listed this walk to the waterfalls & hope to do it soon. Thanks for showing the beauty of the area.

Great stuff. I always find there's something very serene about a wild camp out in the fells, even when the wind batters your tent. I think it's because you leave the complications of life behind and it's just you, the mountains and the elements. Looking forward to my next excursion up there.

Thanks for yet another entertaining and beautifully shot video - there's certainly a fantastic view from Black Sails so will add it to my list of 'Black Crags'. Completely get your rant about the benefits of being out in nature and how it cleanses your soul - and that's from someone who has to commute int London twice a week - I breathe a sigh of relief the minute the train passes back out over the M25!

The Coniston fells are the magma chamber of a long extinct volcano, originally some 18,000ft high. Lifted by a Granite Dome causing the hydrothermal deposition of Copper ores. Subsequent erosion by Ice Ages exposed the old Diorite magma which would normally be deep underground. The famous Slate Quarries are Volcanic Ash deposition altered to metamorphic Slates with good cleavage - Ooh, Matron....

Just wanted to say it was a real surprise to run into you at Stickle Tarn! What are the chances of seeing the person who inspired me to go walking in the Lakes on my third trip there!? A huge thanks for providing advice on how we could get down on a gentler route via Lang How! Unfortunately we ended up exhausting all of our routes down after one of the group ended up having a panic attack with the poor weather, we ended up having to call Mountain Rescue for her. (In hindsight she wasn't ready and I should've picked a gentler route from the start.) It was still great to meet you though, and again, a big thanks for offering advice. :D

Fabulous, thanks for sharing. I love Black Sails and was introduced to it on FB by a very special person who is sadly no longer with us. She used to bivvi up there what seemed like twice a week after work in all weathers then brekkie in the Meadowdore cafe then go straight back to work. I was so amazed that she could bivvi in the snow and still manage a civilised dinner including red wine and G&T. What a gal! Meanwhile you’re doing pretty well too ⛰️ ⛺️

Well, that's Black Sails on the list, thank you! And I've not yet done Wetherlam so that looks like a nice circuit. What a superb hill and ridge that is, especially down from Black Sails and yes, what was Wainwright thinking?! Mind you, that probably accounts for it still being a grassy path down. Really enjoying these videos, you're giving me so many fresh ideas.

Pretty gutted as i'd had that compass since i was in scouts 32 years ago!!! Anyway. Another top film pal. Cheers

The fact you feel the need to explain your sentiments about living and evolving with nature is such a sad fact of life.. and quite an _English_ thing.. we are one of the worst when it comes to the lack of introspective spirituality and loving nature and our routes..
