I never usually comment on vlogs much but have to say you are just fantastic at what you do. I can’t be in the lakes till April but watching your vlogs immediately transports me there and has given so many fabulous ideas for walks, too many for the meagre 7 days I will have. You’re enthusiasm and love for what you do is so visible and I hope this channel goes from strength to strength as you deserve every success. Thankyou for taking me to the place I love when I can’t be there

Glen, I watch with pleasure your Lake District videos while I sit many hours a day attending to my housebound wife who has Alzheimer’s. I wouldn’t be surprised if cares make up a significant part of your audience. I appreciate the detail you give out of where you’re walking, the helpful maps, and, to the point observations. I thank you, and all the other KZbin presenters who do such an accomplished job of bringing the outdoors to many of us who no can longer get out and about as we used to . PS If you’ll allow, may I add a kindly meant suggestion and which might apply to most video makers..if you all limit, or indeed stop using altogether, the frequently used superlatives: absolutely , fantastic, stunning , incredible and a few others.. I’m sure the beauty of everyone’s hard work will be elevated .. ! Take care Paul

We walked up Grey Crag last year it was a tough climb. Far Eastern Fells have been great to get to know this last couple of years, not previously done much in this are before - a revelation!

We did the reverse route when unable to make your rescheduled mass. We parked down by the river only to discover the car park nearer the base of the climb. It was good to see what we missed. You had great conditions. We did it in 100% rain and 100% cloud! It does get a bit of a schleck half way round, agreed! We eventually ate our lunch when breaking out of the cloud just above Brothers Water and then a final slippery descent. Always appreciate your routes as they really help with our prep. Ant.

I did Brock Crags and Angletarn Pikes last week and when I got the first view ever of Hayeswater with the naked eye, I just stood in awe. It really is a far more fantastic view than on the screen which is a good advert for people to get out there and do it if possible.

This is a great walk and you did it justice, Glenn. Yes, the climb up onto Hartsop Dodd is brutal, as is the climb up to ThornthwIte Crag from Threshwaite Mouth but so worth it. Once again, plenty of chat from you, just as like it. 🙂👍

Great video as usual mate, done this route a few times and the pull up straight from the car park is brutal, although I prefer it in reverse as you can have a lot of fun going up stony cove pike scrambling. Also I really appreciate when you use the camera and pinpoint the fells and landmarks as it really helps me put the puzzle pieces together. Can't wait to start following your routes when te weather gets a little better. Atb mate 🍻

I've watched from series 1 episode 1, through the end ofthis episode this weekend. Needed some stress relief, as my house purchase in Cumbria is being a massive source of incredible stress. And this has worked perfectly. Darned solicitors are keeping me away from this no longer. Im now charged and ready for battle tomorrow.

Brilliant stuff as always. Not just the incredible views but your presentation of it all. Watching your videos is like being out with a mate. Hope Finn is going to make another appearance soon. You obviously carry a lot of equipment and it would be interesting to see what cameras and lenses you use. I like to take a lot of photos (not up to your standard) but use a small mirrorless camera to save on weight (and expense!). Anyway thanks again for your efforts. Looking forward to the next one.

Another wonderful video to start the new year off in style. It looked a tough old climb up though. That's a fair old cairn at the top of Thornthwaite Crag. You had some amazing light on the way down. Really spectacular. I always think the same too on my Lake District walks. They just keep on giving and giving. The Lake District delivers again! Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed the watch. Oh by the way I must do that Bonscale Pike walk you did recently. I desperately want that view you had. It just won't bloody stop raining!

Once again, I admire your fortitude. I split these fells into two widely-separated walks, avoiding the majority of the steep stuff. Gray Crag was the start of my most ambitious walk, a long circuit of Hayeswater netting me nine summits, my best ever, but I cheated by using the main track to Hayeswater then contouring over to hit the ridge as high up as I could. As for Hartsop Dodd, I used that for descent, starting with a beautifully solitary approach along Pasture Beck, which felt like a brilliant secret, to Threshet, where I stood aside for the fell-race that had been leaving Hartsop whilst I was putting my boots on. They'd obviously gone the long way round. Such days.

Very lovely, I'm watching from New Zealand where I live now, but this is home for me. I grew up in Glenridding and my stepdad has lived in Hartsop all his life. That side of the family farm from Hartsop up onto Angletarn Pikes, round High Street, Thornthwaite, Stony Cove Pike and Caudale Moor to the top of Kirkstone. So this is a very familiar walk, and what a great day you had! Good choice to go for a pint at the Brotherswater too - lovely views into Dovedale from the beer garden there.

Terrific video, as always. I remember going up that Hartsop ridge with much huffing and puffing. Although from Thornthwaite Beacon I went on to High Street so missed out Gray Crag, so I've now got that one to do on its own - should have planned better! So it was very handy to see the route down - looks like that'll be a lot of huffing and puffing going up too. Really enjoying this series and the first one - I've done 178 so a few left to do but it's great to be reminded of routes / fells I've already done and see the new ones I've still to do and being given fresh ideas for different circuits, something different from the usual. All very inspiring, so thank you. And stop doing yourself down, about 'mediocre' filming - there's nothing mediocre about your filming or the narration/wafflage! Your enthusiasm shines through. Best wishes for the coming year.

Great vlog as usual. Hartsop Dodd is a beast of a climb even without the festive endeavours. Just thought I'd mention that being out in Dubai all year round apart from Summers and the odd Christmas trip. I always watch your vlogs to keep me stimulated. My daughter who is 6 and knows how much her Daddy loves the Lake District has started to watch the vlogs with me. I tell her I carried up 2 Wainwright's on my back when she was 1. I'm hoping to get her to hike one herself this Summer. She has now regularly asks me at bedtime that instead of a story can we watch a Walking Vlog ie your Black Crag vlogs. She has a TV in her room 55 inch,(Dubai life etc...) so when asked I always oblige.Your vlogs inspire me and they are inspiring my daughter to venture out and hopefully have the same passion for the Lake District as much as I do and obviously you do. Thank you so much for these vlogs. We love them here in the Desert .
