Hiking the Wainwrights - Season 2: Far Eastern Fells - Episode 5. High Street, The Lake District
Finally I'm faced with a proper weather day! The long run of perfect calm days might have come to an end. Not great for the views or flying a drone but my goodness it's so good for the soul!
Grab a brew (maybe a hot water bottle too) and settle down to watch this mountain fool get battered by some of the most extreme weather I've ever encountered.

This was one of the last Lakeland walks I did with my son before my cardiac incident and triple bypass. We did the ridge first and went the other way round, it was really lovely. Now on the mend and hopefully this week I will be heading out into my beloved Teasdale for a lovely winter walk😀

What an amazing adventure. Your walks should be a TV series, so professional and the commentary is exceptional. I can just see you and Julia Bradbury doing these. Or maybe with a comedian who asks inane questions and brings loads of needless kit. Best hiking channel on the choob by a country mile.

That was definitely a two Mars Bar walk. Thank you for risking life and limb to bring the gorgeousness of the Lakes to a small screen for those of us who love the place and to inspire those who haven't visited yet to experience those fells themselves.

Argh posted before I had finished. I said I'd watch your vlog enjoying a nice dram of single malt. Well, I going to have that dram now. I've finished wfh for the day, my wife has gone to Asda with my daughter to do the weekly shop, my tea is cooking in the oven, I've relaxed watching you doing battle with snow, sleet and the wind, now for the whisky. Looking forward to your next vlog already and hoping I'll get across this Saturday. ATB Rod

I hve to say I have never seen a programme of such quality on the internet or tv. In the conditions you were operating in to show the scenery with such clarity is amazing. You bring the viewer into your adventures with you and have such knowledge of the fells etc. Thank heaven, because in those conditions I think anyone who didn't could have been in real trouble. Honestly, you put the highly paid tv presenters to shame. Thanks for another great episode, this is definitely my favourite youtube channel.

Found the video by accident and I have to say that it was one of the most entertaining half hours I've spent in ages and took me back to wild camping on High Street in high summer and being up on the fells of the Lakes up to the (certain bodily parts) in deep snow and howling wind.....deep joy!! I'm a seasoned fell and mountain walker who is long past his prime but found the content and the way you did the voice recording very entertaining in both content, knowledge and enthusiasm. You certainly love your fells. Looking forward to looking at your past vids. Graham

Brilliant video. Bought back memories of January 2022 when I did this walk but I went up Dudderwick Fell, Rough Crag, Riggindale up onto High street. Most frightening winds I’ve ever encountered, truly terrifying. But determined to go back this year & do it again in better weather.

Hello Glenn, it's always magical walking in the snow whatever age you are. You've inspired me to brush up on my navigating skills when it gets clagged in and you can't pick out any landmarks. So, I'm off to find some useful compass and map reading videos! Take care and keep doing what you're doing, it's brilliant! P.S. Glad that you didn't take Finn, she would have disappeared! Rather you than me is all I can say! I'm assuming you summitted Rampsgill Head even though you don't feature it, in which case I included five of these fells in my best-tally-nine-fell walk, and picked up Mardale Ill Bell later on after a re-visit to High Street via Rough Crag, which is every bit as brilliant as you say! In fact, the main reason for the walk that day, even as I was collecting MIB, was to do Rough Crag. Brilliant sunshine and glorious views both times, though I can't say I could picture the Legions or the countryfolk in my mind.

Been following for ages but first time I've commented.. You are the best at this kind of thing by a Lakeland mile! I was gobsmacked at your bravery and the quality with which you managed to film this adventure! Was it with the GoPro 10? I've been using a DJI action 2 and struggling to do simple things like keep the horizon level :-) but you seem to film exactly what you want us to see with hardly any effort. And the sound quality is amazing. Woolly hat off to you sir and I agree with the TV comment above, these are broadcast-worthy and look and sound great on a big screen.
