Kinda interesting to see a danganronpa execution be based off of actual torture methods used during world war II. For those who don't know, this is Bamboo Torture. Basically restrain someone above baby bamboo shoots, and since bamboo is so durable and (EXTREMELY) fast growing, within a few days, the bamboo will impale the person through the back.

Spoilers (not that you really need this warning) Autumn getting killed because of being impaled with bamboo? *That’s a real life torture technique.* Referred to as bamboo torture, it was commonly used by Japan during WWII against U.S and allied prisoners of war. The victim would be tied down on top of a bamboo shoot, and over several days, it would slowly puncture skin and eventually grow through the victim entirely. Only thing is that for Autumn, it’s way more painful. She was impaled with three bamboo plants instead of one, and they grew much faster, meaning she had no time to adjust to the pain. What’s even worse is Monokuma’s explanation post trial. Because he couldn’t actually speed up time, the bamboo was pre-grown and pushed up to give the illusion of bamboo growing. This means that the bamboo was already fully grown and completely tore/shredded Autumn’s vital organs apart rather than slowly puncture them. I have mixed feelings on Autumn, but she didn’t deserve this! #JusticeForAutumn

Here’s a little explaination of Autumn’s execution (I didnt get it at first) Autumn’s execution seems to be based off of bamboo torture which was allegedly been used during world war II in which the person being tortured is tied above infant bamboo and over the course of several days would grow and puncture their body. This means the execution must’ve been going for a long time (which is the only explaination how the bamboo grew so fast in the video) while Autumn is also starving and dying from dehydration. Yikes.

Actually if you watch the full class trial, Monokuma explains that they pre-grown the bamboo and just pushed it up holes in the floor to make an illusion that it was growing.

I'd say this execution lasted up to 13 / 14 hours since the bamboo looked about 2 meters long and about every 6.6 hours a bamboo plant grows 1 meter
