Time stood still, the day the music died for so many of us who once loved and participated in the sport ,it truly breaks my heart to see how the powers that be have turned their backs on so many of us ,our heritage, our annual family and friends gatherings for generations! I know no super stars or Nascar affiliated people will probably every admit it ,that they sold us out and screwed up .I know thousands and thousands feel exactly as I do ! Rip old friend Winston cup , you are missed and all our heroes have been put out for a Politically correct, cookie cutter salesman with a perfect smile and a Yankee accent who do not understand the traditions and passion of the great ones that Nascar has pushed away ,some things are just best left alone ,now they are giving tickets away all because they decided to copy other sports that only wished they had the magic that Nascar once had !

Thank you Marcus Smith, Dale Jr and all who were involved in bringing North Wilkesboro back! This has been truly special as a long time racing fan and lover of auto racing to see! North Wikesboro is deep heritage, tradition and racing history that was beloved by many and long forgotten/abandoned by the “big wigs” of corporate America but fans never gave up or abandoned it even when they were told it was useless, pointless and ridiculous to bring it back and just move on. They fought, begged and cried and demanded year after year. Well their prayers, dreams and demands came true, finally after a quarter century! What an honor to see a legend return! I’m not quite 30 years old (will be in about a week lol) but I deeply love/respect tradition, history and southern roots of racing especially NASCAR. that won’t change no matter what.. While NASCAR moved on, many didn’t. I enjoy watching classic races from a legendary short track. This has been a big win for those who love the sport and tradition and the way it was. I’m blessed to see it in the flesh. Benny Parsons would be so proud and happy! Thanks to his wife Terri, also for honoring his wish and memory. Long live North Wikesboro Speedway

There is something about the patina of this track that needs to be preserved. Obviously some things need to be updated but the worn out signs, scoreboard and seats just look so right.

I saw Sr.'s last win here and Gordon win the last NASCAR race. Driving home with my dad that day in his '69 F100 for the last time felt like their had been a death in the family. I don't think we spoke 5 words all the way home. To return and see racing again makes it feel like all is right with this crazy world. Thanks to all the folks involved with making this happen....a dream come true for a life long racer/fan!

I would rather come here anytime and watch a race than at Bowman Gray stadium and I only live 12 miles from that track.Race tracks shouldn't be no shorter distance that this.If Nascar don't want to come back that's fine.I would enjoy watching local racers racing here as as you had at least 20 cars in different classes.Keep it Open and We will Come.

Thank you Terry Parsons and Save The Speedway group. All of you kept Benny's dream alive. I wish you would have got the credit you all deserve. It was heartbreaking to hear that young boy say, even with the smile he had on his face, "This is my first time being at a place like this . . ." That has got to STOP. There are still plenty of local race tracks struggling to keep others dreams alive. We have to support these tracks. NASCAR and TV build more fans than they do participants, because it seems out of reach for younger generations. They need to know there are roads, in their area, to go as far as they want to go. Whether it's Cup, or just Street Stocks at the local track. IT CAN BE HAD, DREAMS CAN AND DO COME TRUE. No offense, but you will only see the same last names in NASCAR, generation after generation, if these short track keep going by the wayside. My dad died one week after I turned 16. Our family has been involved in racing one way or another most all our lives. Sixteen is not a good age for an aspiring racer to lose his father in the early 70's. If it hadn't been my "racing family" at the local track here in Michigan, I would not have had the guidance I needed through those very changing times. If it hadn't been for our local track, I wouldn't been able to point at the TV and say "I watched that guy get his start in racing." Starting with Benny Parsons.

As a British guy who has S1apSh0es to thank for getting me interested in NASCAR after 15 years of solely watching F1 - this makes me really happy for the community of North Wilksboro. Easy fo me to only see the multi-billion dollar circuits with umbrella payments and revenue doing nothing for the community. Wilksboro's speedway is the community, and this is fucking awesome. Would love the chance to visit one day. Awesome stuff Jr

Saw my 1st live Nascar race in the Fall of 92'!!! It was held on a Monday as there was heavy rain the Sunday prior. And the race ran caution flag free. Don't remember who won but the only spin was Darrell Waltrip who spun his car during warmup laps before the start. And the only crash was by two rollback wreckers that were being used to help dry the wet track before the start. One had stopped at the Start/Finish line and the 2nd wrecker didn't see the 1st one stopped.

I’d love to help repaint some signage there. If anyone has seen the restoration work that’s been done to the Circuit de Reims over in France 🇫🇷 it’s tremendous. The locals there all pitched in to restore signage that hadn’t been touched since the early 70’s. Today they hold historic racing there. There’s a wonderful thing happening at North Wilkesboro, I’m jazzed to see it all unfold!

That brings back memories of my dad taking me and couple of my friends to watch nascar races at bristol motor speedway back in the mid to late 1970's. It only had concrete bleachers on the start finish line side and people sat up on the hillside along the backstretch side of the track. Maybe 35 to 40k fans at the races. Please bring back racing at Rockingham after you all get north wilkesboro track back to life. Nothing better then small short track racing on half to 3/4 mile tracks.

Good people of Wilkes County NC; Make this track the super bowl of short track racing. Modifieds, late model stocks, supers, sportsman, super street, bring them all. Forget Cup series. Forget National series. Forget Truck series. Forget NASCAR. They are doing everything they can to leave the rural south, it’s roots, behind to rot and die. Do what NASCAR won’t. Invest in your core. Invest in your roots. Do what Indycar, IMSA, and NHRA did. Forget the new markets; forget the wide world of casual race fans. Don’t chase gimmicks, don’t chase trends, don’t chase the casuals. Invest and cultivate your CORE. Don’t chase the motorsport culture and what NASCAR wants. BECOME your own culture.
