@@MouseWeaver Thanks for your response. Im going through all your videos to understand the process. However I have a main doubt. Let's say I have to create the print from zero, I mean drawing the flowers directly on photoshop. In this case, is it better to make sure any shape I create doesn't have pixels in another color? so in the end I won't have to check all the flowers searching for unwanted pixels. This problem doesn't exist on Illustrator because it already works with vectors. So is it possible to send files in illustrator for rotary printing? I don't know if the factories work with it. I can't thank you enough for your videos :)
@MouseWeaver4 жыл бұрын
Hi Florencia! Thank you for watching my videos. Yes, sure, you can create your design in Illustrator, as well as you can created it in any other programs. I'm not teaching how to create a design, I'm just teaching how to use Adobe Photoshop for faster production and easier execution for factories. If you prefer to work in Illustrator, it's great, you are absolutely right, it makes your art more save in terms of unwanted pixelation. But for creating stronger repeat and for better production I'd recommend to send it out in Photoshop. It's very easy: In Photoshop go to File, Open, select your Illustrator file, click Open, in the following window unchecked Anti-aliased box off, then check Constrain Proportion box on. Choose your favorite resolution (I'd recommend from 200 to 300), and click OK. You will get your Illustrator file converted in Photoshop in absolutely clean way. You can do repeat and color separation from there. More over, I'll give your another idea: in the image size you can type another parameters, and with checking Constrain Proportion you may get enlarged or reduced print. Try this method, let me know if it works for you. However, you can discuss about sending Illustrator files out with your factory.

Thank you so much for the tutorial. You have answered a lot of my questions that I had for a while. What format do I save as to send to the mill? Do you call it color separation as well?
@MouseWeaver7 жыл бұрын
Hi TJ! Thank you for watching my channel! Send your artwork to the mill in original PSD format ( if the mill has Photoshop ), if not- convert it to TIFF. TIFF can be opened by any software, so every overseas office could get it easily. Please avoid sending in JPG format (unless it's requested) JPG takes minimum memory, but it doesn't preserve original color separation and may cause artwork blurriness. Yes, this option also called "Color Separation"

Sorry to bother you with another question: Why do people do channel separation? Is it for screen printing only? I've been very confused between index color separation and channel separation!
@MouseWeaver7 жыл бұрын
Hi TJ! Thank you for question:) Yes, you are absolutely right, designers use channel separation for screen print only, because in that case we use different technique,- it's a digital printer which prints every channel on a top of each other, so in the end we have an image created by channels blending (you can learn more about channel separation here: www.photoscreenprint.com/tutorials/color-separation/). Whereas in roller printing colors are not blending, each roller prints it's color separately on the background, that's why we use indexed color separation

thanks for this video! I never tried the option indexed color, instead I was using spot channels. However, I followed your instructions with my watercolor paintings and didn't end up looking that great... Do you have any tips for that?

Hi Heartmade! Thank you for watching my channel! Sorry for late reply! As I've mentioned, this lesson is for FLAT COLOR print. I'm working on "Color separation for WATERCOLOR print" lesson currently, it will be posted next week. Please, take a look around next Thursday, I'm sure you'll find the answer. If not, please, ask me!

Dear Mam, I want to know how to give water color effect to object in Photoshop to digital printing. If you give tutorial for that I would be grateful to you
@MouseWeaver6 жыл бұрын
Hi Riyazuddin! Thank you for watching my channel! Unfortunately, your question is a bit unclear for me. What kind of objects you are asking about? I provide lessons only for textile designers, and I don't practice privet tutorial. If you are working on some art project and are interested about watercolor visual effects, there are a lot of channels which provides such kind of technique. For example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXO2qIOshbunf9U kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIPWZ5ikrZ53eqc kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqubhYqdfc-IkLs Thank you again, and good luck for you!!

@@MouseWeaver I think they are asking how to make the effect of the watercolor textiles similar to the motif you show on the 2nd video of color indexing. I would love to see a video on how to do that too. (gradations with stippling or airbrushing). I'm not sure what can be done without making it "muddy" or too difficult for the engraver to understand). Also, I've been trying to place your accent! Lol. First I think Russian, then Hungarian, then Italian, I can't figure it out. :-) But I really enjoy how you speak, it's very clear and succinct and you give personality to the videos, so many other people sound like robots. You have a kind persona. Thank you!

Hi Roxanne! Thank you for watching my videos! That's is interesting question.I was thinking I covered watercolor method in my lesson #4, but you are right, there are more details I have to share. I'm almost ready for my next lesson which I've announced last time "Embroidery and Jacquard" , but after this I will return to the watercolor method. Also I'm very glad you've mentioned my accent- this was my biggest concern when I've started my channel, I was worrying it would distract my potential subscribers. And, your first guess was absolutely right- it's Russian. However, my native country is Ukraine...

@@MouseWeaver YEyyyyy! I look forward to the watercolor effects video, and your accent is not distracting at all, it actually makes it very clear to understand, because you're making an effort to enunciate, where English speakers tend to speak too fast, and are not as clear. Thank you so much for writing back to me!

Hi Roxanne, thank you for watching! for Screen print color separation watch my video Chapter 11. HOW TO DO COLOR SEPARATION IN PHOTOSHOP (second half of that video) Also, screen printing used by companies making placement prints, for all-over prints companies use mostly rollers

@@MouseWeaver Oh, that's good to know! My company took us on a tour of the printers, and they were using square screens maximum 24", for fabric, (Not placement). I wonder why! Anyway, your videos are wonderful, thank you!
