Not a film about baits, or tackle, or rigs or techniques but a film about fishing and better still, friends fishing and the magic that brings them together. And what made it extra special was the fact that it made me feel like i was a third friend there with them, holding the camera perhaps. Simply magical.

Ten years later I was fortunate to fish Redmire Pool and sat in the very swim Dick Walker captured Clarissa, and I managed in under five minutes to catch a twenty two pound linear mirror. Upon returning home I discovered it was a fish captured by Jack Hilton some twenty years previously. I feel very privileged to have trod in the footsteps of such iconic anglers. Sam was in his late 70's and me just an irritating kid when we first met. He took me under his "Wing" and taught me how to fish, I can still hear old Sam now, puffing away on his pipe, and saying, "Dear oh dear, oh dear" behind me as I made my next silly schoolboy mistake, lol. We fished with cane rods and centre pins, slept under the stars, relaxed and enjoyed times that will never be repeated again. Bless you Chris and young Martin for reminding me of my childhood days.
