And said rubric marines aren't even available in game even though obviously their skeleton animations and armor are akready in game lol. Im assuming we may get a psyker class at some point and they will take the spot. If the armor was customizable with a variety of pieces i think I'd be more okay with the legion lock but not being able to do anything to the heretic astartes armor is a really bad move.

Given the choice between cutting features, cutting testing, or pushing workers to crunch (which generally leads to sloppy work and faulty products), the choice to cut features is often the best decision. The cosmetic features are easily added post-launch, and are not essential to the game. They prioritised higher value features that are more integral to the game. Good project management does not mean naïve wishful thinking that everything will go perfectly. Project management is about making tough choices to deliver the best result possible with the time & budget available. In engineering, the worst project management is the kind that runs on wishful thinking. Wishful thinking that denies hard realities forces engineers to hide problems. When the team can trust the project manager to guide priorities and accept reality, they can be open and truthful about delays and roadblocks, which makes work easier for everyone involved. So yes, it is a sign of good project management to see a non-essential feature cut. Space Marine 2 runs super smooth on my old PC, and I haven't encountered any bugs. That means they spent the time on benchmarking & QA, which has a much bigger impact than cosmetics.

@@pimposaurus2340 that's fair i did oversimplify it i just wanted to point out that often when nurgle infects you you bloat because you decay and stuff spills out of you. Im hoping if they decide they dont want to unlock things because say each heretic skeleton is too unique they at least allow us to put each legion into each class as all weapon hokd points seem to be the same even between loyalist and heretic legions. I was super shocked that even though tge 1k sons are literally in the game they weren't represented i can only hope they plan to add a psyker class and have the thousand son slot in there. So far im loving the game the only thing is thr lack of armor pieces for the heretics.

I think the reason they locked them to each class for now (the Traitor classes). Is they, much like the Loyalists in the ops mode. They are specific named characters they plan to use for Chaos ops and horde maps they may have planned later on. And I have a feeling when they reveal the Chaos ops/horde maps (possibly like I said) in a future update. That is when we will get to tinker with the Chaos customization. This first wave/year they focus on the Loyalist. Then they do the Traitors. SM1 had you playing as them during a map on Exterminatus after launch and fighting Imperium forces. Which they already have the assets for and would be foolish to not use as a technical "third faction" to fight. Something tells me this will be no different. And even the classes on the Loyalist side are named and are all Ultramarines no matter what skin/chapter we put on them.

​@@blakemelhuish1118it's been pretty consistent in the lore that iron warriors use chaos alot more than they really submit to it. There's a constant mention that iron warriors who get mutated limbs will chop that limb off and replace it with cybernetics because they don't want to be wholly consumed by chaos. Obviously it varies from marine to marine, and they aren't the only legions who's not as wholly engrossed (night lords and alpha legion are the other two), but it's a pretty common thing.

I'm still upset that we have the older model power armor/helmets in the first campaign mission and on the heretics, but we can't use that as customization for the loyalist... The mouth vent helmet is so iconic and seeing titus use it in the first mission and not being able to equip it is actually extremely lame... Also no chaos customization or PVE is also frankly disappointing, it seems chaos players are not tossed a bone and I hope to see them added to cooperation as a Skin options (lore be damned Fun > Lore) or for them to get their own missions in the near future. I love what I've seen of the game so far but there are a lot of "little gripes" that I have that I hope gets resolved soon.

I have two-fold theory as to why Chaos customization is like this at the moment: They saw that players turning marines into different chapters and how teams turned into a less uniform regimen of various colors; either in SM1 or this; so they decided to take initiative and pre-emptively turn the classes into different legions on the Chaos side. And since you can only play as Chaos in the PvP mode it's less work since at most they make up 1/6th of the game. Obviously there are holes in this hypothetical and thought process but I figured I'd speculate and maybe soften the blow a little.

The modeld look fantastic, but for me the lack of customisation for chaos is a massive let down as a chaos player. I'm a world eaters player so I was only ever going to play melee anyways, but its really annoying that there is no variety. They put so much work into customisation for loyalists, but then did nothing for chaos. I would mind so much except space marine 1 had the same level of customisation for both. They need to change it, and it had better be a patch not a DLC of they will piss off a lot of their fan base.

Out of all the heretic astartes armor sets i think heavy is my absolute favorite because it's going to be the easiest one to change into something else, not really a lot of identity with that set unless the hazard stripes don't change for some reason.

I will say one concern is that if they do give us full Chaos customization then I'd also ask they give us a toggle that enables us to have our Chaos Marines on the battle barge. I don't really care that we have to be on a loyalist ship unless they decided to make a Black Legion ship which would be really cool, but also a bit ambitious.

Honestly the first step they could take with the chaos space marines right now is just let you pick the legion you want to play as they are all basically the same model have the same proportions are in standard marine armor. Your team may have look a like but you'll be playing the class you want representing the legion you want. They could do this and work on making the weapons for the legions match the class so your not a Khorn bulwark with nurgle plague sword and shield.
