i was hoping char griller would sell these in europe too but we are out of luck over here i have the masterbuilt 560 and i like the concept of a gravity fed smoker but the 560 has some issues i have to live with

Had a masterbuilt smoker when I started, and like you had problems and worked around them. The Char-Griller is pretty nice, but have even had problems with it also.

If you used a vegetable oil spray I'm not sure you went past the smoke point of the oil. 400 degrees is what you needed. Char Griller says take it past the smoke point for 20 min and then cool down reapply oil and do it X3. After thsese hour long burns what are you seeing for cool down times on the hopper? Mine seems to stay hot for hours after.

Haven't used it in awhile.....but yea takes forever for the hopper to cool down.

@@BUMMERSBARBQ oh ok, I think we got our pit boss's around the same time, but now you got me wanting this new 980 also. Wife ain't gonna be happy, lol but my Pit boss just aint holding up too well. im further south than you are and i have had all the metal inside replaced already, and even the replacements are rusting out also. its covered 24x7 but the humidity is killing it.
