I bought my pit boss 5 years ago (probably about the time you posted this video). Finished a cook yesterday and the fan cut off.. sitting in the house an hour later I saw smoke. Went outside and the grill is fully on. Only thing not "ON" was the knob on the control board.

Before I purchased my PB1600 PSE did a lot of research. Didn't find any review stating the firmware update issue. Paid $1300 and now can't use the functions advertised. PB support has not helped one bit. I would not recommend the PB1600. From my research after the purchase this is a known problem and has been for a long time.

I like to open my sear plate up and let the dogs get chared and crislpy a little, the hotdogs are basically just re-heating anyways so if you were worried about the "presentation" of the hotdogs, burning the case a little adds that grill flavor and makes them look toasty. Just me. I also do the burgers at 300, but just like you I put them on the right hand side. Usually takes about 45 minutes total.

On my Pit Boss, the temp reads higher than when I put the probe inside, but not in the meat. I should trust the probe reading, right?

When you buy meat it should be from a man in a white coat missing fingers and all he sells is meat. Yellow styrofoam is my red flag. That says mass supermarket. I wonder at 38 if i had kids would i care more about my food? Ps have the same smoker. 2 Massachusetts winters its not falling apart and runs weekly min. I vac the ash, unplug it and it suts uncovered. Still looks and works good

I finally got my replacement control module working - kind of. Apparently, I have all the connections done correctly, and IF I leave the module partly out of the hole (halfway snapped in), the device sometimes turns on - at least it makes the correct noise and the screen is active. HOWEVER, if I have the module fully installed (snapped in tigihtly), the device will NOT work. I believe that there is s short that is only engaged when the wires are gathered and snugged up in their space. In other words - The function to turn "ON" may work f the module is partially pushed into place, but not when it's fully installed.

Getting ready to throw one on the Pit Boss tonight and found your video. Don't listen to the haters. That's exactly the way we like our meat as well. That looks perfect and still juicy and tender, which is great for a london broil. And I always fail at seeing which way the grain is going because I am usually too hungry from smelling the meat and just cut it up and chow down. It's all ending up chewed up in my mouth anyways. LOL! Thanks for the video!!

Why spend money on a grill with a p setting when your forced to compromise your temp for more smoke? Doesnt a smoke tube do a better job at adding smoke flavoring? Also you dont have to compromise your heat setting? Im in the market and the cost isnt a deal breaker for me. However theres grills with better features but dont have the p setting.
@BUMMERSBARBQ
@BUMMERSBARBQ 4 ай бұрын
If you waana use a smoke tub go ahead, I have never found a reason to need one, the P setting is also used for grilling.smoking other items at very low temps like smoked cheese. It not to often that I use it, get plenty of smoke flavor from just a normal smoke.

I never knew the heating rod could even go bad. I take a small metal brush to mine every few cooks when I clean out the grill. Just a few light brushes with it, I assumed it would need to be cleaned from build up
@BUMMERSBARBQ

Mine went bad because the main control board malfunctioned and caused the heating rod to always stay on even after the fire had started.

@@BUMMERSBARBQ good idea my friend, I may just do the same! I might see about getting some aluminum shields made, instead of the pot metal ones! 👍 Oh, there wasn't really emphasis placed in the manual to really keep the pot clean, so therefore the element has to work harder for ignition! Just a thought 🤔👍
