Its an incredible example of storytelling as a Visual and Auditory medium It uses every visual storytelling drvice but also takes full advantage of sound via things like jinx hearing voices to the song sequences- it is a musical show without it being a musical and each moment a song appears is dealt with utter seriousness, taking full advantage of the idea that music is used to convey emotion just as talking is used to convey logic

I think it would be interesting if you do another short analysis like this, if you talked about how Vi reacts to Jayce accidentally killing the boy. I found her dismissive behavior very puzzling considering how closely it relates to her own life experiences (where Powder accidentally killed Vander, Claggor and Mylo). She doesn't blame Jayce like she blamed Jinx, so maybe that's also relevent?
@Dressup_Doll
@Dressup_Doll 9 ай бұрын
She’s also been in prison during the timeskip, so that could explain it as well. She’s used to death by this point, but the difference might have been because the boy was nameless while she loved her family deeply. Also, she might have been trying to keep calm in front of the topsiders. Just a few things I thought of.
@ktownshutdown21
@ktownshutdown21 26 күн бұрын
Vi absolutely blames and chastises Jayce for that boy's death, telling him that Topsiders have already killed plenty of people like this them all the time, and he's only sad about it now that he finally has to see it with his own eyes. That's still well within her character of being cynical about Piltover.

One aspect of jayce’s character that would be interesting to know is where he’s from. Obviously we saw that his flash back was in a blizzard so common denominator says Freljord. Only thing about that scene is that it they were obviously migrating. So even with that sene he could be from anywhere. The lore of the Freljord does speak of groups being left for dead. Idk I just think it would be interesting to know just a little bit more about where he is really from!

The sandwich was also brilliant, I think. It shows the disparity between the haves and have-nots of the show -- people who would casually leave food lying around aren't "going hungry" as Vi says, while people who are hungry, like Powder, would not hesitate to gobble it up. of course, you might think "what kind of slob leaves a sandwich lying around?" and the answer is someone who thinks he's just going out "for awhile" and intends to come right back, which is exactly what happens a few moments later.

I have come to the conclusion that the more effort something takes to be created the more thought usually goes into it. See spiderverse, arcane . Or rather the more likely it is to be good or atleast interesting/ a clear vision. I also often feel this with stop motion or traditional 2d animation. They don’t have to be good necessarily but the fact that it was so difficult to create anything means that there is usually a reason for everything to be there. This is pretty cool. Big studios however bypass this with sheer manpower. Disney movies are hella difficult to make but they still feel like a phoned in corporate mandate a lot of the time.

I've always felt this is an incredible way to introduce a character. Build them up before we ever even see them on screen, so we don't have to waste time having them tell you who they are in a stilted or unnatural way. But I honestly think my favorite version of this is Sauron in LOTR, because the story plays with this method by just... Never introducing him. The closest we get really is Aragorn having a test of wills with the Palantir, but aside from that we only ever interact with him through flashbacks or servants. It's this brilliant way of maintaining the intimidation and dread without the slightest risk of ever having Sauron be a let-down. He feels like an apocalyptic threat, like something beyond comprehension in evil and power. But we DO get to know him, through his servants, through the devastation left in his wake, and through the cruelty of the Ring. It's the best of both worlds.

When i firts saw that scene i thought Jason would just be a side chacter, the scene was just to show Piltover's lifestyle and our chacters relationship with that (AND ALSO IS!!), i never expected him to be such an important chacter as a main one, and i think that lil plot twist is really fun. The fact he isn't all colorfull or gangster as our first chacters introduced, may make us think he'll not have focus at all, but when we see he have, it bring us a break of expectations, a change in the story we never thought would happen.

We studied something similar in literature class at my highschool. The main guy character of a book is told by the main girl character of the book to sleep in her room when he arrives at the house she lives in, we don't know her at all but the author describes at lenght her messy room and we get a sense of her character by that. My teacher called it the significant detail technique, idk if it could have a different name but I kept that in mind for my own writing. Arcane is amazing as usual.

I honestly really like Jayce. His character feels very “real” to me. He’s a rich boy who legit wants to make a difference to help his community and the lower class; but still doesn’t get that he is privileged and has his own prejudices. Thank goodness for Victor being able to humble Jayce, and remind him what it was they did all this for. And that, despite the stuff with Silco, the Under-city is full of people just trying to survive against all odd brought on to them by his(Jayce’s) community. Also, Jayce may get clouded but he takes ownership of when he fucks up (sometimes it takes a little while for him to figure it out tho )I know a lot of people do not like him, but I really do. He was even able to help Mel (QUEEN) see the different perspectives between the upper and lower classes and why the lowers have resorted to these measures.

The sandwich also arguably speaks to his practical thinking and being of a lesser house. Though it does look substantial and tasty, so it's It's blue collar with fancy trim. It's not like he left out a lobster tail or bought a burger from a restaurant. He threw together a sandwich with stuff on hand, but didn't need anything truly elaborate. Maybe I'm reading too much into this. I'm definitely thinking about food to the point of making me peckish.
