Lyney, Furina, and all of Fontaine, however, is teaching you just HOW easy it is to fool your senses and manipulate what you know, then reveals the backstage in order for you to better understand how the illusion works so that when people try to twist reality, you can instead pierce the illusion and lay bear the Truth.

Furina's teaser talking about fate and what it means for the characters on the stage, reminds me a lot of Kaeya's hangout. He brought up something similar in the discussion with the Traveler after the end of the play, (which he had alternated - changed the fate of the character he was playing, even if only slightly). There're a lot of parallels between them, but I'm not well versed in English enough to put this into words

The title of the teaser is, " Furina: member of the cast" . She's the White cloths one, as a member of the cast she's not Focalors. Focalors is the black cloths one we see at the end tearing up and she's the one who created Furina among the cast just like marry ann created ann and that's why we probably see the dog hugged by Furina who's = to ann who's created by marry ann and the dog recognize her but can't for sure tell its her

In the first half of the teaser, everything about Furina is flipped, because what we are seeing is a reflection on a mirror; we are deceived to think that it is reality… then furina poses a question: are we the audience or characters? Then she reveals by walking to a mirror and breaks it, meaning we were also on stage looking at the mirror with Furina. The reality is we are both playing a part in some grander scheme, one of fate? Honestly I can’t wait to see what twists and turns we will experience… both as an audience member… and cast.

My guess is that the prophecy had already happened, Fontaine had already flooded and Furina was the final person left. Furina probably used all of her power to bring back/create the current Fontaine and let the citizens live the status quo. Right at the beginning, there was mention about how floods destroyed a few parts of Fontaine but was repaired/ contained. It may have been much worse than people knew about but Furina at the time was able to do something about it to mask what happened and let Fontaine continue on. However, Furina herself probably had to remain in the sealed, old Fontaine to maintain the seal (Perhaps tied to the Oritrice the fountain and various other mechanism), and she probably made a body double out of water (Something similar to the hydro-eidolon creating versions of people they met int he summer event) to ensure that the masquerade is maintained. This explains why the current Furina does not feel like an Archon, nor does she seem to have any power, cause in truth, she isn't the hydro archon, or at least not her fully. It also explains Furina's voice we hear in the fountain,. That is the converging point of all water, probably including the flooded old Fontaine that Furina is currently sealed in. It also explains why Furina is able to so strongly refute that she wasn't idling and was in fact doing everything she can, but also why she can't explain anything. Since it would break the masquerade that the true Furina set up, and may end up causing panic and confusion and light Fontaine as a failure nation that wasn't able to protect itself from complete destruction. (Or at least that's what Furina fears would happen, maybe based her lived experiences in the past, kinda like the discourse Fontaine had from the introduction of Melusines in its early days.) As for why the new Fontaine is starting to flood, its probably along the lines of the fact that Furina's powers are starting to wane. Perhaps this was never meant to be the permanent solution, just something to buy them enough time to deploy the proper solution. It might be that the stuff the Oritrice is collecting has something to do with it, but it may also be that she is just waiting for the nation to mature to the point that the citizens would be able to handle the news and act together to save Fontaine.

having thoughts about this teaser and arnold's thoughts about this teaser... like it is very similar to what the overture teaser was saying yes, and you know what was the response to lyney's narration? arlecchino telling him (and us) that "when you're on the stage, you're first and foremost ACTORS. good actors hone their craft to mesmerize the whole crowd." is that what furina's doing? all we know is that she's an actress at heart and if fontaine's fate is running in a loop over and over with furina living through it like a twisted groundhog day, is she fooling even arlecchino instead of what we've been led to believe? even 4.2 trailer neuvillette says "you're not as superficial as you seem to be", presumably to furina... What Does It All Mean also interesting that you bring Liyue Archon Quest back up and how if furina really knows what she's doing, then her actions would make a parallel of sorts to zhongli's actions in liyue - perhaps it's no coincidence that both Contracts and Justice concern the Law. finally, what does childe have to do with all this? his involvement in fontaine, the citizens of which seem to all be enamored with a good performance, and how the narwhal & skirk come into play here - it all reminds me of his Character Story, where it mentions that even childe loves a good performance, "sometimes even becoming part of the performance himself".

I've actually been wondering this since the 4.2 live stream, but I think she might actually die for a moment. It's honestly because of her hair in her black outfit, it doesn't have the long hair part connected to it and it's the perfect length of getting your head chopped off. Its all a reflection of her fear of what will happen if the prophecy comes true. "You" are the lone mecha recording her fate. The last audience and cast member, alone at the bottom of the sea. The tragic samsara-esque scenario being that, if all were lost, she would still be re-telling her story to this mecha far into the future, as her only coping mechanism.

Furina's story seems to me the saddest in our game. You don't always understand what's going on. But you see that Furina has the biggest burden on her shoulders. It's as if she already knows the future and is just patiently waiting for it. And it's very sad. I'm really looking forward to November 8 when we finally find out everything.

Imagine that IS Seymour and Furina is Mary-Ann(tuanette) who got beheaded by a Guillotine... Furina's healing skill immediately reminded me of the Narcissus, which is pretty much Lyris. So the WQ could tie directly to the AQ. And they said during the stream that Narzissenkreuz' WQ will have a "surprise" at the end, which is suss beyond belief. I dearly hope and cope that with this patch Mihoyo will start directly connecting WQs and AQs. We already saw Alain and Seymour in Neuvi's SQ, so it's not too far outside the realm of possibility. And if Mihoyo do in fact tie them - Natlan and Snezhnaya will POP THE FUCK OFF.

i think the narrator of the teaser wasn't even the furina who was hugging the dog (you can notice that her mouth wasnt moving at all according to the narration), it was only the very last furina who was watching everything from the audience seat who is the narrator here

My catharsis comes here. Before 4.0 I'd started with the presumption that "my element" was Hydro and I ought to be able to predict how Focalors saw Fontaine's situation over the last few centuries, and thus ought to be able to predict what she was up to. Despite being a bit wrong about the initial situation (having expected the Fatui, Celestia, and the Abyss Order to all be independently working to destroy Fontaine, all about ready to act around our arrival point, in addition to the prophecy), my assessment was correct. There were only two approaches Furina could possibly be taking that had any chance to work, and I went with the less mature one. My fault there. Still think it might have worked, but Fontaine deserves better. The audience's catharsis as a whole comes later - and that's the entire point of this.

All the pieces of the puzzle are finally starting fall into place. If that is indeed Seymour.... Crumbs from the world quests and other dialogue will finally connect with the archon quest. Aranyaka did this too for sumeru, it indirectly gave a lot of information that explained the past of sumeru forest to make the archon quest more coherent. Same here with the narzissenkreuz questline. I also always had a crackpot idea of Furina being connected/ represented through ann or lyris. Can't wait to see if it actually comes to fruition. P.S: these are just my on the spot thoughts and I can't really confirmed these by cross referencing with the game right now. The first set where she was sitting down seems kinda like a tea party structure in Mary Ann's home.

Finally someone else noticed the similarity of the sets: yes, that IS the backyard of Mary-Ann sunflower cottage (aka 'The Real Annapausis'). And there is no way that is just a random mecha dog, so putting these 2 clues together (cause Hoyo doesn't do coincidences), I do wonder what is Furina's connection to Mary Ann. 4.2 will be so fun: Archon Quest, Narzissenkreuz World Quest, Furina's Story Quest. Can't wait for the lore~

I'm bad with words and lore speculations BUT. So in one of Ashikai's videos (I can't remember which one!!) she talks about how every summer event before the drop of a new nation sort of foreshadows the next archon quest, but on a smaller scale. In the secret summer paradise event, Idiya talks about how she was an oceanid dying in the desert and used a bottle given to her to create her own little realm so she could stay alive. Other people who were lost in the desert stumbled upon the bottle , and it served as a hope them since dreams and wishes can come true in the bottle, so upon leaving they brought with them new aspirations and dreams to the real world. And so, no one who lives inside the Veluriyam Mirage are real, but projections of Idiya's memories of said people who visited her centuries ago. Also in Neuvillette's teaser, there was a section where everyone had drowned. So, crack theory, but could Fontaine be like a mirage created from Focalors' mind because Fontaine already flooded centuries ago in the global Teyvat flood? Again, I'm no good at this so I'd love to hear other opinions! I also find it super intriguing how Idiya hides her true form, which may be the situation between Focalors and Furina? Though, I do believe that Focalors and Furina are two different entities in one, not like how human-Idiya and Oceanid-Idiya are just one and the same but different forms. Anyway, it makes me think of "Focalors, why did you deceive us?" from the trailer, and how Furina/Focalors keeps messing with our heads in this archon quest. This teaser alone is just a giant mindfuck (which I love). My point is that if what Ashikai talked about is true (which it really does seem like): 1) Furina is probably Focalors' front to deceive people of who the real hydro archon is, so she can work in the shadows 2) Fontaine is a mirage of what it was before it was flooded, and citizens are a projection of the hydro archon's memories because she doesn't want to weep alone on her throne But man I have SO many questions about this archon quest I NEED ANSWERS!!!

I really like this idea. There are already so many hints that the people of Fontain might just be Hydro Eidolons, which is why they are the only ones who can dissolve in water. It's possible that after the first great flood of Remuria, all the people in Fontaine really DID die. For some reason, Focolors "recreated" the entire civilization as Hydro Eidolons, and placed Furina/a segment of herself as the guardian or watchdog for the people. What's going on in Fountaine today with the prophecy might be some kind of "memory of fate", destined to occur again to the "memories" of the people of ancient Remuria -- Fontaine's citizens. What if Furina's objective here has been to somehow "deceive fate" such that fate treats the citizens not as watery memories of an ancient civilization but rather real flesh and blood people unlinked to the past... And thus ends up absolving them of their original "sin" in the eyes of fate itself?

At the end of the teaser, Furina just looks so exhausted… like she’s been playing this role for so long. Perhaps this is due to the “curse” that the Knave mentioned in act IV. The “curse” probably being the original sin that Egeria mentions in the overture teaser. Furina was probably born with that original sin, which is to play this role over and over not knowing when this prophecy was going to occur. It’s left her on edge for 500 years, and during that time she’s probably been figuring out how to stop it by maintaining the indemnitium and assuring the people that the prophecy won’t come true. But that of course is a lie. She doesn’t want it to happen, so she lies to herself thinking it won’t, even though she knows that fate can’t be changed.

it's so interesting that she's in a different outfit in the very last scene of the teaser. i feel like focalors (the consciousness in the oratrice) will be the one to die, while furina (the one we've come to know & love) will survive, thus fulfilling yet cheating fate at the same time, since they're both two parts of one whole.

SO MANY THEORIES IN MY HEAD after the this and the trailer though. I'm just gonna list out some thoughts I have to be more coherent in what I'm thinking. 1. It's funny that you mentioned the Samsara and the Matrix because after this trailer the first thing that came to mind was us being in yet another simulation, lol. Going off of the speculation that Ousia and Pneuma Furina are separate beings- ala Oceanid, I can see this video as Furina "talking to herself", y'know, like leaving records of plans for her to do but then again it's just as possible to leave these messages to Neuvillette or the traveler. 3. Speaking of leaving messages, (*SPOILERS for those who haven't done Book of Esoteric Revelations and other Narzissenkreuz quests in 4.0 because the some of these points refer to them in some way*) "This is a recording playing in your head." Bruh, remember what Canotila said after you talk to her after the quest? Something like, "if memories can be turned into books, can books be turned into memories"? Well, this is this is me putting on my tinfoil hat and spitting out crack theories because what if Fontainians were given false memories of the prophecy not happening yet? Or was somehow in a book playing out their roles unknowingly playing out the prophecy over and over again with small changes? (Think that one looping corridor in Anapausis) HOWEVER, we have counter points of Charlotte being able to go out of Fontaine during the TCG event and literally the rest of Teyvat not noticing anything if that was the case so probably not. ^^" But still, I think it's interesting to see if the themes of the Narzissenkreuz quests can tie into the Archon Quest (time, memories, etc.) 4. Speaking of which, there's still the Fontainians' constitution (capable of wielding ousia/pneuma, susceptible to dissolving when in contact with Primordial water as well as those notes Rene made about it). Maybe the "original sin" has something to do with it. Someone else had a crack theory that the sin committed (by Egeria or Furina, idk) was bringing their citizens back after the flood using the waters and their memories residing there. 5. Talking about plays and operas, this teaser really makes it seem that someone is outside looking in (glass/mirrors, "audience or cast member", Pneuma Furina playing the role of mascot and Ousia Furina sitting in the audience seat) and seems to know what will happen or has "already" happened. There was another user with an interesting theory of Furina trying to deceive fate by playing out the prophecy while thinking about an out to have her citizens come back after the fact, which was why she was collecting huge amounts of Indemnitium. (Bruh, imagine if this was a all a big play, like with Daiya and the Three Day Reverie in Veluriyam Mirage? Lol. xD) All in all, same as before, I have no idea what's gonna happen and I'm excited to find out! (Also me, writing this in notepad first so I won't have to keep editing my comment like in the last video) Also, I kinda wanna see Neuvillette getting the gnosis and gaining his dragonhood instead of the Fatui if only as a middle finger to them and other people for disregarding Furina as just a mascot though. Probably not gonna happen though, since the Tsaritsa still needs them. *sigh* Speaking of, its kinda sus that Arlecchino wasn't present in the 4.2 trailer.

I feel like she will stage the prophecy to come true so she can deceive fate? Celestia? Egeria? The heavenly principle? Justice? Like maybe that’s the only way she can see the nation surviving this inevitable destruction. But how will she pull that out also really interesting as a character herself is she an incomplete archon? Does she not feel ready? It’s interesting to note that certainly the successor archons naturally have such “room for improvement” so to speak. Obviously Venti and Zhongli aren’t perfect but certainly the experience has helped them define their stance with their nation. Idk we have so so many questions and I already know some won’t be answered until Furinas second quest

The one thing I'm sure of is that Furina isn't going to die because she has Story Quest. I do believe in the theory that there are two Furinas, one we can see and the other in Oratrice. The one in Oratrice is probably going to die/dissappeare mostly because I think fits into the theme of separation and lose of loved one we see throught out the game.

Hoyoverse really hit the nail on the head with Fontaine's theme of a Masquerade It took some time to actually understand what was happening with the first Fontaine world quest we got so that in itself is a Masquerade And then like Arnold is saying the Archon quests are also a mystery like you never know what'll happen once which is different for genshin because it's usually hard to predict All we have that's kind of case closed is Navia and Lyney and Lynette development

Arnold , hear me out . Something I realised while watching your mondstadt and liyue play throughs for a second time cause I was bored is that " freedom" appears as a concept every nation ( till sumeru atleast) I don't know what mihoyo is cooking , but this trailer directly contradicts " freedom" , with the absolute fate notion. Every word Furina speaks has a certain feeling that I can't pin down. Also the line " unless you deceive fate itself " is somehow giving me a bad feeling( she is also crying ) . Also the one crying in the end is ousia aligned furina with the black dress and short hair........ This eerie feeling this teaser shows is interesting to say the least . Anyway I am hyped for 4.2 in 3 days . We will see what happens.

After this teaser I suspect Furina is Anna-muse from Narzissenkreuz Institute. Timings dont add up, but there are many things from Narzissenkreuz quest in this teaser.

I assume she plans on being executed to give Nieivellete the authority to fix things, but there's some scheme for her to survive the execution. Early on I assumed due to Final Feast Trailer that everything happening was Arleccinno's scheme, but now I'm thinking Furina has been playing everyone the whole time too, Arleccinno talked about being an actor, not a magician, and Furina is the actor. And Lyney's trailer connected miracles and magic tricks. I think there is a doomed fate that has to happen, so Furina is playing out the fate as sort of a staged rehearsal to see if that will fulfill the prophesy without being real.

I think the Oratrice thing in the court has been building up energy for the last 500 years, Furina needs a final push, which is her death sentence. In the 4.2 trailer, the scene where furinas posing on stage and people cheering, i think they were cheering on her death sentence, furina creates a hateful downfall of a celebrity so the Oratrice gains enough power, she may go down as a hated by all - archon for her plan to work

So - there's a theory (Ashikai has a video about it) that the people of Fontaine are actually Hydro eidolons acting like people, created by Egeria (which could be the Original Sin), that's why they can dissolve in the Primordial Seawater. So letting the whole of Fontaine to sink is also letting the prophecy to come true - everyone will dissolve, but it's not like they were real people anyway, so it could be seen as "deceiving the fate itself". I'm not sure if Hoyo is bold enough to do it but it sounds very interesting!

I think the following: 1) Furina who is now is not an Archon. This was also clearly confirmed by Arlecchino, the harbinger of Fatui. 2) I am almost completely sure that the true Focalors (or the other half of Furina) is Oratris. 3) Based on the trailer for plot 4.2. - I suspect that Focalors launched the Prophecy and will still release the Primordial Sea, drowning all of Fontaine in it. 4) And all this is part of the big performance that she has been playing for 500 years - remember the words spoken by Focalors: Farewell Nevilette. I hope you enjoyed the role you played for 500 years. 5) The only thing I still can’t understand is why she needs this? Why is it so difficult and time-consuming? For what ? It won't be long to wait for an answer. True, I won’t be able to play the plot of 4.2 - I only recently started genshin and am only just at the beginning of the Archon quest in Inazuma. I'll see it on KZbin.

This whole thing about opera, fiction, character, etc. reminds me of how the irminsul erased all the memories and things that mention Rukkhadevata and Scaramouche/Kabukimono BUT didn't/can't erase the memories/things that have layers in them. Like how Nahida keeps Scara's memory in a fable/fictional story, and the story itself is actually telling the truth too, but Irminsul couldn't see it. I also think that Irminsul and fate are connected somehow. So what I think about "first deceive fate itself" is the opposite/reverse version of what I mentioned before. Furina's plan may be to act or make an opera about how the prophecy is coming true, but in reality it isn't and the people of Fontaine are saved.

Make me wonder if what we see is just illusion and what happening has already happen. It make sense with some of the stuff you find in-game. Especially with the voice in the fountain in front of the courthouse where it sounds like the Hydro Archon crying. It would explains why the Hydro Archon we see acts strange and why it would have a what feels like a curse on it if we go by what the Knave said.

you know arnold after watching this, i just have sudden wild theory about this, remember veruliam mirage bottle ? u know some mechanic there that if u change some object outside it will also affect the object inside the reflection. and the fontaine condition that we saw in our eyes everything is just inside the glass bottle like veruliam mirrage and the real furina a.k.a focalor controling us outside. and if you look carefully at the start of video until she break the glass, look her eyes, its inverted. hence we know that every last patch somehow tease what will happen in the next region. anyway its just my wild theory , we need to do the archon quest to know the answer
