How about giving for Allah’s sake to help others like orphans poor needy traveler emigrant etc. spending a great amount of your money there like in Ramadan let’s say when the messenger of Allah صل الله عليه وسلم was the most generous count as being foolish or unintelligent? Or does he mean blowing up your money by buying gifts going to mall buying expense stuff you do not need to flex etc.?
