Despite popular belief, the japanese version of alpha 3 where Akuma mentions of the raging demon ability, doesnt say anything about attacking the soul, unlike the english version that does Aka its a mistranslation from localization, what raging demon does is actually cause death in a supernatural way and bring pain with your sins as well, which explains why Gill and Bison survive it, former can revive, latter can go to another body simply, as for Heihachi, mishimas are simply having a one heck of a stubborn willpower of going down for good, let alone another character in their series has supernatural death inducement and Mishimas arent affected by it

does explain why they survive it: -gen has walked through the literal shadow of death/is owning up to his sins that he just sends it right back. -evil ryu is the same potential almost as akuma/ryu's soul is content controlling his desire now. -with gouken was basically payback for being thrashed only for it to be made even with how he obviously wins against akuma in 4 saving ryu/being alive again. -gill has whatever it is that revives him(they should really go into the full origin of the powers since the comics briefly did.) being a dark messiah(like a light version of jedah.) -m. bison had enough psycho power which is powered by hatred to revive his soul at least. -the mishima's are about as powered up as wario from determination(not a lie in the manuals the transformations are literally wario not feeling like dying using it to his advantage which is really badass surviving stuff that'd kill mario.) having ed,edd n eddy levels of durability and will power to casually stand up to supernatural feats & outright control the origin of man's sin. -asura's a literal god that has took way more than the above combined.

@@tracyndiyob162 Idk much about Gen, but as with SF5, Akuma hits you physically for the raging demon, Gen simply parried all as shown in alpha 3 Evil Ryu was unaffected cuz he did the raging demon too, so they cancelled each other basically Gouken power is basically a counter to the Dark Hado, which 2 times countered his raging demon, in alpha games and SF4 Gill as i said, can revive from death with ressurection Bison soul can just go to another body, physically he dies, but because the raging demon isnt targetting the soul as previously thought, its making more sense why he got away too As i said a character from their series has death inducement like Akuma has with raging demon, which on Mishimas it didnt work, on top of all being way too resilient to go down for good, they just refuse to die that easily Asura died before and returned from it a bunch of times, so makes sense or simply put, he is too angry to die

Having Gen counter the Hell Murder in no way diminishes it. This shows how awesome Gen is; he doesn't tank the move, he evades all the blows, exactly how a master martial artist would avoid being pummeled by an opponent. If Bill had blocked all the parts of the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique, the technique wouldn't have been any less deadly.

There's only one out to justify this failing of the raging demon. After using it for the first time and killing the only person he saw as a father figure, the guilt of being his murderer has imprinting onto his soul, therefore, he has since been unable to fully give in to murderous intent 100%, which curbs the intent of the raging demon. Ultimately, Akuma's soul is tainted with guilt. Boom! You're welcome!

Let's remember: Heihachi neither empties his soul, nor manages to parry the physical attacks, and on top of that he also has a lengthy list of sins. And yet he's not even K.O.'ed by the Shun Goku Satsu. Wich makes absolutely no sense. However, If Akuma used the move on Kazuya it could have made sense for Kazuya to survive it, as a natural born demon he may have some innate resistance to demonic techniques.

akuma has serious bad luck with that technique.(alongside tbh having a huge downgrade being shown in detail in 5.) with how: -m. bison in 2 having just enough psycho power to revive. -gill using whatever his power is to resurrect himself at the end of arcade(also how casually aside it feels.) -getting thrashed by gouken,basically doing it as payback(like to think it was from kazumi as her part of akuma's debt to her.) only to get beaten up by him again failing to turn ryu into a worthy opponent. -gen having already walked the shadow of death(with how lackluster it was in 5 wouldn't mind it being retcon/a huge f you to akuma he decided to choose when to die.) that he not only no sells it but beats akuma up right back.(though evil ryu having a stalemate with akuma is a awesome way of showing evil ryu's potential.) -in asura's wrath's case asura is literally a god above the ones akuma's fought it's completely justified with what he went through. -heihachi's the most durable person in tekken(those characters in general have ed,edd n eddy/looney tunes levels of durability compared to other fighting games.) it'd be disappointing on his end if that was how he went out with how he survived missing out on 5 being buried for weeks in a cemetery he landed in after getting caught in a explosion. think it fits with how akuma is a glass canon as i would like to see akuma try it having the move nearly kill him backfiring or do it to jp/m. bison if they unnecessarily revive him showing it literally ripping his soul apart.

That's the risk in having a bunch of people survive, it makes the attack look less effective. With Gill and even Seth, it made sense and Heihachi had to survive it. The rest just serve to weaken the move's effectiveness.

Akuma kept inventing new more powerful techniques than it in his stories because he knew the Demon has weaknesses His new lv3 in SF3 was invented in Alpha 2 iirc, his Tatsu ultra in SSFIV first shown destroying a submarine in 2nd impact, and so on He also managed to visually kill Bison in CVS1 using Shin Akuma's new super, the Misogi, which cuts bison in half, before fighting you

The Shun Goku Satsu doesn't actually attack the soul or harm you based on your sins. The real reason it's so dangerous for both the victim and user is it requires fully submitting yourself to the Satsui no Hadou. By entering a berserker state, the user can attack without conscious thought, negating the lag between intent and action. The danger comes when the user loses themselves within that state, becoming nothing more than an animal. It is why it is a forbidden technique, and also why Goutetsu was happy to fall to it. It showed that his student was able to surpass him and use the Satsui no Hadou successfully. Conversely, in order to defend against a blinding flurry of strikes, one needs to empty themselves of all conscious thought. This concept is similar to Musou Tensei from Fist of the North Star or Ultra Instinct. Defending each blow without thought is the only way to not die to it. This is what is meant by "emptying the soul"; letting go of all conscious thought. Gen could do it. Gouken tried but he hadn't mastered the Mu no Ken yet and "only" got beaten into a coma. Bison did die from it but he already had a piece of his soul in Rose akin to a backup save file. Gill died but had the ability to come back to life. Still died. So weirdly enough, Akuma actually has a good success rate.

This is a very good example of the the similar 'comic book-like' issue fighting games have with being able to maintain a sense of stakes and badassery with what some character's ultimate attacks can do, versus what they wind up actually doing because nearly everyone can be dug up from the grave for profit. Villains suffer the most when they build such a status just to then not be able to kill anyone in the series because of plot armor or retcons but fault likely falls just as much on fans as it does companies considering how attached many can get to characters.

so a couple of things in regards to bison I always assumed that bisons soul was shattered and needed to be pieced back together with the pyscho drive, add in the fact that least half of it (Rose) was still around and we've got a pretty good idea of what's keeping bison around. SF5 does some other stuff with that but we might be able to chock that up to G. Akuma also regularly refuses to fight people he deems unworthy. this could be because such people haven't done enough for the weight of their sins to kill them in regards to shun goku satsu. one of his win quotes is even death's too good for you. I do agree that move has lost a bit of it's luster, but I think it might be more about who the move is used against rather than the move just being weak. Most of the people you mentioned (Guy, Asura, and Gill) aren't really bad guys and therefore would have less weight for the shungokusatsu to work with

THE IDEA THAT THE SOUL can be destroyed was never implicit, it is instead meant to subject its target to devine retribution, hence the prison part of its definition; prison would not be a part of its definition if killing the subject was the intent. think of time dilation in a dream. in theory the person would be subjected to pains and sufferings allowed via sympathetic and empathetic enforcement. meaning it would be a heavy guilt trip, with death DENIED. implying there are setups to conscious experiences that are worse than death. as death would be a mercy in such states. cannonically though, there are reported incidences of humans "willing" themselves to death. an option at the end of punishment.

I think it was the perfect move for the perfect secret boss and they should have left it at that. The problem is people love to play Akuma because he is the ultimate bad ass, but you can’t and a competitive fighting game. Let players have an ultimate bad ass because it would be unbalanced. So you have to Nerf the character. Doing so his ultimate move now is one that can be easily pulled off and doesn’t quite have the sole killer effect it used to. Even beyond gameplay that still rings true, every time the character uses the ability on someone and they survive it. It makes it less impactful.

Man, I love Akuma, as well as Ryu, Ken, Gouken and other karate characters. They are AWSOME! Also the Oni state of Akuma in Ultra Street Fighter 4 was crazy. It's like his ultimate form. Also yeah, I prefer Ultra Street Fighter 4 over Street Fighter 5 and 6. Because SF5 is basically the same game but with story mode and microtransactions and Street Fighter 6 is all about that pop stuff. And I'm metalhead, so I just can't hear all of that meaningless soundtrack in SF6. And also because SF4 has all of the cool characters that I need. And those that are not there you can just mod in and call it a day. On PC at least.

What if Satsui No Hado was used not by human being, but some… object, like katana? I have an interesting concept for new Street Fighter character: Tsumiki Arikawa - the last member of the Arikawa clan and the wielder of katana, cursed by Satsui No Hado energy. The Arikawa clan is a clan of assassins who eliminate anyone who use Satsui No Hado techniques by the cursed katana, currently owned by Tsumiki. As the last descendant of the clan, eighteen-year-old Tsumiki vowed to end the hunt, began by her ancestors, and kill the last known and the most famous master of Satsui No Hado - Akuma. Tsumiki’s cursed katana has “Raging Shogun” - a technique similar to Raging Demon: Tsumiki ran through the opponent, slashing him by the katana, and after when she put the katana back in the scabbard, opponent is being hit by numerous attacks and one powerful blow in the end. If the opponent is defeated by Raging Shogun, the ten (heaven) sigil appears in black screen with Tsumiki and her opponent. Yup, Tsumiki is supposed to be Akuma’s rival.

A good number of those were self inflicted (Rugal, Goenitz, Yashiro), and aside from the complete destruction of Southtown in 2000 there are only a handful of actual kills (NESTS bosses, Shion backstabbing Magaki, Iori killing Mature and Vice, Yashiro sacrificing Shermie along with himself) And thanks to Verse, none of those deaths stuck except for Mature and Vice and they come back as phantoms anyway.

The Raging Demon is a physical attack (it's a series of point black hadoukens into the body of the opponent, literally blowing them up from within). The whole nonsense about "spiritual attack" is more Buddhist metaphor than canon. Anyway, Bison and Akuma never encountered one another in the canon but if they did, Akuma could not kill him. You also missed Gouken's 2nd encounter with Akuma where they fought to death at the end of SF4 for the life of Ryu, and Gouken won by dodging all of Akuma's attacks. This is ultimately what sets off Akuma to develop new deadly attacks in SSF4, SF5, and SF3 - He literally recognized the futility of his own Raging Demon against certain opponents.

I don’t think that the move is weak it’s just cuz akuma approach to things is to fight u straight up u never seen a raging demon behind someone akuma has the ability to teleport behind u but he’s giving u a chance by hitting it right in front of your face instead of behind your back he actually wants to fight u he wants to catch up sleeping mid battle that’s y he gtta unique input u hide doing it but u do it right in front of your opponents face and u know u finished them akuma wouldn’t fight u if u wasn’t worthy

Street fighter is a game. How many fighting game do you know of that actually kills off characters. The attack can’t work as intended because it would throw off the game roster. If Bison died in SF2. Then, he would’ve never been a playable character in any of the later versions. The same with Gill. And all of the other characters named in this video.

Ok this is true but what single move DOES have a high body count? I dont know of any. Furthermore, death isnt the sole barometer of worth for a move. Its like the conservatives talking about how covid didnt solely kill "that many" but there's a big gap between healthy and dead

Plot holes and red cons are just producers adding plot armor to dead characters who died . They died like bison died in street fighter 2 . He died stop bringing him back and make a new boss that is good and not a science experiment gone wrong.
