Thanks for sharing on how to start the charcoals. Does the damper needs to be opened when u dump the burning coals on the grate?

I nuked mine the first time I cooked in it. Burned off the outer paint layer and now REALLY needs some TLC to bring it back to its glory and take care of it properly. I could not find any information on the Grand Champ 8100. Seems its no longer made and was upgraded to the XD Off-Set smoker. I'm a newbie on Charcoal grilling so I need all the research I can find.

The house I moved into came with a chargriller similar to this video. It had been left in the rain for years and the paint was messed up, the grate has no handles, the rack inside was popping against the bottom half of the barrel on opening.. the list goes on. I spent 30 minutes just playing with it to fix mechanical issues. The metal parts will loosen over time due to the heat playing with the nuts and bolts, gotta keep everything cleaned and tightened! To touch up the paint I used matte black high temp automotive paint from auto zone I had in the garage. Thing looks and functions good as new

I have trouble maintaining the heat inside this grill. Any tips beside adding more charcoal? I add a fair amount but the heat dips pretty fast.

Can anyone give me some advice on cleaning the Grill Plates? Since the Grates look like their made of a Porcelain finish, can you still use a wire brush Scraper? Or will the wire brush scraper damage the Grates finish? What do any of you use to scrape off your Grates? Thanks for any input!

You said to season the grill, you want to burn at a high temperature for 20-30 minutes. The manual for my new Char-Griller Duo (5050) says 250 for 2 hours and never exceed 450! I guess go by the manual?
@Andrew-ls7mm

the manual for my grill also says to use lighter fluid to light charcoals, so there's some mixed signals for sure

Pretty sure this is a repeat question and I apologize for this but…. It’s my first time use and this video says I only need to season for 20-30 but the manual says 2-3 hours…. Which should I really do???

Hey Allen, 20-30 Minutes for some grills but double check your owners manual for the exact time for your grill.

So do you need to season it after each use? You mention to spray it down with vegetable oil after each use
@Char-Griller
@Char-Griller 3 жыл бұрын
You should spray it down with oil after every use for the first month or so to get the best seasoning.

Agreed, turns out it works. I spray a light coat of vegetable oil spray all over the outside and smear it with a paper towel to get all the nooks and crannies. Absolutely zero oxidation and looks brown new all the time (except for the wood slats). I plan on light sanding down the wood for cleaner look this summer. Great grill, no complaints.

Nice! How often do you do that? I just got a new char griller (assembled it this weekend) and I’m really excited to use it for the first time!😄
@r.serrano9377
@r.serrano9377 Жыл бұрын
Depends how often you use it and how you store it. Mine is outside with the cover in. I use it about every other week. So I probably spray it down every three months or so with a light coat. Doesn’t take too much. It still holding up after two years. Only thing I have replaced is the charcoal grate that goes inside the barrel and that was only $35.
