Bertholdt's emotional breakdown was fantastic! He's usually so quiet and reserved so his outburst here really tells you that he's just as affected by his actions as Reiner is. Even Ymir looked pained after hearing his cries. Erwin and Armin were MVPs this episode! Erwin because he's a certified badass, and Armin for emotionally manipulating Bertholdt by using Annie against him Smiling Titan is back!!

Ymir understands how painful it is to tell yourself lies to feel loved and needed. Reiner and Bert lie to themselves that they’re honorary Marleyans, better than the island devils. They do so to feel needed and accepted in a world where they’re treated subhuman by Marley. The price is having to shoulder the burden of insulting and killing their own race. They then lie to themselves again when they ‘played soldier’ on the island wanting to feel a sense of humanity within themselves again and the feeling of belonging. all the while they live in anguish because of the guilt eating away at them from the inside. Ymir knows how terribly lonely and painful it is to feel so desperate for human connection, you’d resort to telling terrible lies to yourself or other people. And that even if the lies work for a while, it always ends with a higher price to pay. Ymir is such an empathetic, soft hearted character under that hard exterior. I always cry seeing her backstory because her entire life she’s had it so so hard. And just when happiness seemed to be within reach after meeting Christa who loves and understands her, she still chooses to sacrifice herself. And I think it’s important to acknowledge that Ymir Reiner and Bert really didn’t have that much interaction or a close relationship at all during trainee days. All it took was a half days worth of interaction and that last line during Bert’s breakdown to make her realize that they are more or less in the same boat she was in back then and is immediately able to feel genuine empathy and pity towards them. She acts like a dick but she’s probably one of the most human characters on the show. I really wish she got a better ending.

I think that whole scene with Bertholdt begging for someone to "Find us" is sorta just him pleading for someone to guide and help him and Reiner. Like, yes he's a soldier, and yes, he's also a 'warrior' but essentially, he is also a lost child. He wants to be found. He wants to be saved from the situation he is in. Mikasa going "Give Eren back" wasn't just a "haha fuck you anyway give me my boy back" it was more like. Mikasa wasn't being cold and dismissive, she seemed a little more sad and tired. There was no other answer she could give him, there is nothing anyone can do for Reiner and Bertholdt because they're enemies now. And they've taken Eren.

yeah, Annie, Bertholdt, and Reiner probably committed the greatest atrocity in human history single handedly. I don't think it is possible to ever be forgiven for an atrocity on that kinda scale, no matter the reasoning, and Bertholdt has long ago come to that same conclusion and it has likely eaten away at him his entire life. He still hopes for someone to see how much he has suffered though, and "find him" as in understand how much such actions have torn him apart inside, but that is basically impossible and he understands that. Later on in the manga when more information is revealed on what lead Annie, Bertholdt, and Reiner to destroy the walls, the author Isayama, does a damn good job though making these people who have committed a seemingly unforgivable act, into fairly understandable, pitiable characters, which is one the things that really puts attack on titan above a lot of the rest.

they did tho, indirectly and its never noticed by our characters (since they didnt see the flashback) but its a logical conclusion you can draw yourself. Ymir as a normal Titan= Blocky Teeth and no claws--> Ymir after she eats Marcel (who most likely had Titan transforming powers) = Ymir is now a transforming titan with sharp teeth and claws. Then think about how every one of the special Titans has some sort of deformity or special ability and there you go. And then MANGASPOILERS: once you see Porcos Jaw Titan which he took from Ymir with his hardened Jaw, sharp Theeth and claws its pretty much confirmed. But its not really an important thing so why waste more time on it if all the clues are there for the Audience to figure it out on their own?^^
