So just to clarify without spoilers. When Marley lost the Colossal and the Female Titan, other nations saw that as a sign of weakness. So the Mid East Allied Forces (another nation) declared war on them. That was the war we just saw in this episode and that's why Zeke says "This war begun beacause of our defeat, Reiner". We´re now 4 years in the future after the Battle of Shinganshina from Season 3 part 2.

@@savirini1638 There's better, there's worse, tbh the way they did it in that episode was clever at first, but when the last third of the episode arrived, it began to feel out of place. When Reiner was for example, running while destroying canons, the movements were let on their own, meaning that the titan felt super light. If the sound design would have been stronger with let's say, metallic clangs and heavy foot steps, breaking wing, and adding more moving dust and particles around the titan, then yeah, I think it would solve the cgi problem here.

So I'll try to explain this episode in a few sentences without spoiling it. Basically, Marley is at war with the Middle East Federation and it has been 4 years (ever since the battle at Shiganshina). They are at war because other nations heard that Marley lost the Colossal and Female titan so they decided to take advantage of that and declare war on Marley. In this battle, our main protagonists are Eldians fighting for Marley to determine who will gain the Armored Titan. The titan we saw that looks like a lion is the Jaw Titan. (Keep in mind that Ymir went with Bertholdt and Reiner to Marley and in this time skip we assume she got eaten by Galliard who is now the new Jaw Titan holder).

The thing that I love about this season is that it really breaks down the fact that there isn't really a right or a wrong person or group or faction. It's all about perspectives, because what we thought we knew is not necessarily correct, we were just looking at it from one perspective. The people who we all hated at first, you start to realize that they aren't necessarily antagonists once you see the story from their perspective. This season is gonna be a wild ride, I'm just hype for the first big battle, which should be fairly soon, hopefully the animation does it justice.

Why didn’t the Marleyans use air support when Zeke, Reiner, Bertholdt, and the Cart Titan were sieging Shiganshina?? And why didn’t they use machine gun and mounted it on the cart titan?? They clearly have an advanced weaponry compared to Paradis kingdom. They could’ve used the Zeppelin to bypass the walls of Paradis and bombard it with bombs and Titans and possibly parachute themselves and invade the kingdom bypassing the walls. Not using their advance tech cost them 2 of their 9 Titans
