The first indirect digital radiography system we cover is the charged coupled device (CCD chip). The CCD chip has the ability to convert light photons to electrons and is therefore, used in most digital camera systems. The scintillation layer converts X-ray photons to light which is then converted to a digital signal by the CCD chip.

Not sure if the question banks are for you?
If you're here, you're likely studying for a radiology physics exam. I've spent the last few months collating past papers from multiple different countries selecting the most commonly asked questions. You'll be surprised how often questions repeat themselves!
The types of questions asked in FRCR, RANZCR AIT, ARRT, FC Rad Diag (SA), ABR qualifying Core Physics and MICR part 1 are surprisingly similar and the key concepts remain the same throughout. I've taken the most high-yield questions and answered them in video format so that I can take you through why certain answers are correct and others are not.
Happy studying,
Michael

We are currently studying CCD's and CMOS in our class. I LOVE your videos, but can't find one that covers CMOS.

Is the crystalline silicon on the CCD chip an amorphous silicon? I know amorphous silicon is used with TFTs in an indirect process imaging plate, but trying to understand what the fundamental difference is between a CCD and an imaging plate using the amorphous silicon and TFT.

Hi, thank you for your explanation! this really help me a lot understand this technology. But can you please enlighten me more on slot scan technology? I’ve got an exam coming and I would like to understand this more. I’m a student Diagnostic radiography and this confuses me. Thank you.
