Let's look at the ultrasound transducer. In this talk we will describe the different constituents of the ultrasound probe. Our focus, for part 1, will be on the piezoelectric material and the matching layer.
In the next talk we will discuss, the damping block, quality factor and the probe wiring.

Not sure if the question banks are for you?
If you're here, you're likely studying for a radiology physics exam. I've spent the last few months collating past papers from multiple different countries selecting the most commonly asked questions. You'll be surprised how often questions repeat themselves!
The types of questions asked in FRCR, RANZCR AIT, ARRT, FC Rad Diag (SA), ABR qualifying Core Physics and MICR part 1 are surprisingly similar and the key concepts remain the same throughout. I've taken the most high-yield questions and answered them in video format so that I can take you through why certain answers are correct and others are not.
Happy studying,
Michael

WHY the match layer should be 1/4 fo the PTZ?
@MMI445
@MMI445 4 ай бұрын
According to an article on the "Probo medical" website, "Why Does an Ultrasound Probe Need Matching Layers?", matching layers with a size larger than 1/4 of the wavelength of the ultrasound attenuate the ultrasound more. I guess it has something to do with the amount of ultrasound that is absorbed by the matching layer depending on the wavelength/frequency of the ultrasound. Though it could definitely be something else.
