I was charging with a parallel board. When I was finished I unplugged the charger from the socket and let go of the cord. It flipped around and landed with one of the prongs of the wall plug shorting out the positive and negative of one of the empty xt30 plugs on the parallel board. Sparks flew and it sounded like a welder. It actually welded the plug to the xt30. I had to yank it off the parallel board. It melted the wall plug prong and there is a weld ball on that particular xt30 plug so it can't be used anymore. So first unplug your batteries from the parallel board, then unplug the charger from the wall. This is a fused parallel board and it did not blow a fuse, so don't trust them.

I started my drone obsession 3 years ago and I'm still using the first two lipo batteries I got at the start, and I have been charging them just as this video states from day one which confirms that if you charge you battery right it will keep on going. I'd also like to say these videos are great and very helpful to new pilots.

Great video and thank you for keeping people safe, I'd like to add just two things that could really help people. 1. If you have a smart charger and a parallel board I would recommend storage charging all your batteries first, it doesn't take long and gets all the cells even, then get them on the parallel board. 2. Please double and triple check the connectors when plugging in your batteries to parallel boards, slightly touching the positive to negative can cause huge sparks and even fires. Balance charging is absolutely safe, I'd recommend a balance board with at least 15amp fuses, just watch a few videos and get a collective opinion and NEVER leave batteries charging unattended. People joke but houses have burned down. Be responsible, take care and you will be having fun and flying more than ever :)

FPVLuke 1 is completely unnecessary. Simply connecting them together on the balance board will balance them out. Each battery could be completely different and within 5 minutes, they will all be the same.

Great video. I would recommend doing another video about storage charging because it was only very briefly touched on in this one. I did not know about storage charging LiPos for a long time and ended up shortening the life on tons of batteries because I always left them charged, not to mention that they are safer stored at a storage voltage rather than full. Learning about that earlier could have saved me a bit of money.

this hobby has been around for a while right? how have they not invented batteries that don't need to be babysat like this yet? the DJI fpv drone has this and its one of the reason I think beginners should be getting that drone versus these. If you happen to forget you left a battery on the charger, it could start a fire and burn your house down

I wish they could make these things as user friendly and easy as the DJI drone batteries. You just put them on a charger, done. No specifics, just plug it in when you want to fly, and it will discharge on it's own if left to sit for awhile.
@skyrotfpv

it would probably add weight to the battery if there is a automated discharge technology integrated as in the DJI LiPo's. As I was flying DJI drones as well before I started this amazing fpv quad hobby, I was extremely afraid about the batteries with all these warning signs attached, etc. Now, I use decent chargers and know what I am doing. Therefore I am no longer as afraid as before. I exclusively use ISDT parts (3x D2 Chargers and 6x ISDT PC-4860 parallel boards for 4 LiPos each). :)

I come from the world of high powered flashlights and vaping. One of the things you learn there is how important it is to keep your batteries matched or "married" when you connect them in parallel. I am shocked to see that something like this balance board or balance lead even exists. No I don't wonder anymore how lipo fire occurs. I think it is highly irresponsible to hook up a bunch of batteries all together and treat them as one. There must only be one pack with high internal resistance and the charger won't notice and this thing goes up in flames. That's exactly the same what happend to the unbalanced 5S Pack that was mentioned minutes before in this video....

Charging in 1C is not going to be 30-40 mins. It will be 70-80 minutes with proper rate. 1000mAh is straight 1Ah, that mean 1 Amp for an hour. Is it really considered safe to charge 3C and more on LiPo? I might be too old, though :) New technologies? What about safety bags? Those which used for preventing fire. Parallel charge is on one hand a way to charge a lot of batteries faster together, and a way to escalate difference between cells inside batteries on the other hand. In short - got a lot and can get more: group charge. Care of only two you have - one-by-one charge at 1C ONLY. Excuse me if i'm wrong! Just an opinion. Didn't have any accidents, but still using a safety bag for sure :)

Im completely new at drones as a whole. I'm wanting to build a cinewhoop as my first drone, so I am doing a lot of research and video watching to get an understanding. So I have been researching batteries at this moment, this was good info on the breakdown of the label. Hypothetically asking, a 4s 60c 1500mah battery can fly X mins of flight time, now doubling from 1500mah to 3000mah should technically almost to double flight time. Also lets say the motor and props are accounted for to handle the extra weight. Now other than additional weight added from the larger capacity battery, would there be any other problems that could be created from extended flight times? Seems like if everything is accounted for properly, I shouldn't experience any issues during flight..

Miiliamp HOURS!!! Look on the friggin battery label, it says mAh, not mA. What do you think the h is for? its not silent! It means HOURS as is milliamp Hours. Milliamp is a unit of current, milliamp hour is the unit on energy that you are interested in. You can't just shorten it to milliamp; you are talking about something completely different and confusing all the new people watching this video!

Please lose the background music in future educational videos. There should not be any background music for this type of video. It's particularly distracting to have soft music with a soft voice narrative. The repetitive cymbal tic is like hearing a leaky faucet drip.

@@SuperSigma69 I'm sincerely sorry to see such a strong emotional overreaction to someone else being given constructive criticism. I hope you can attain a more mature emotional response, rather than having a reaction to such things in the future. I do appreciate the free things, including ones that come from a commercial company such as RR. Constructive criticism is a way to give back, to show opportunities for improvement.
