Thanks for the tips! I just bought this grill from Walmart on a crazy clearance price of $75 and then made the changes you talked about in the video with the pan adjuster and the warming tray. They had 3 of them in Norwich, NY and I wasn't there looking for a grill but no way was I passing that deal. Do you ever cover any of yours? I decided to get one for the spring pollen season and all the pine tree sap and stuff. Maybe it will help rusting, maybe it will make it worse but definitely agree that this is going to be an awesome grill.

You will love it!! Especially for that price... I've never covered mine but I do paint it once or twice a season though... thanks for watching!!!

I have owned one of these for 18 plus years, replaced the "fire grate" once, never had a bad meal from this grill. Cooked 2 slabs of ribs the 4th (this year), grill was set up indirect and held 275 for the entire cook. I am in the market for a new grill, have the over priced Weber going now but honestly, it can hold a candle to this inexpensive barrel. Buy one, John is telling the truth, these things are like a boat anchor, they last years.

Just Subscribed. Just Seasoned up the Pro Deluxe Xl grill. I used some of your techniques when putting together. The Bend the Hooks definitely was on point. Thanks for the info.

I purchased the Chargriller Smokin Champ because of this video. Same thing but has a fire box. Although thats usually used for low and slow offset cooking, I plan on using it for beans in the cast iron pot, or keeping food warm. Thanks for posting the video.

Clamping the lifter handles is a good idea IF you are only using it as a grill. I have a 2734 (Smokin' Outlaw), which is the same grill with the side fire box added but didn't come with the warming tray. I turn the grate/tray upside down to use as a full length baffle while smoking, just hooking the lifters beside the grooves (it would be perfect if there was a second set of grooves in the opposite direction) and raising just above the firebox opening. But you are right about it being about the best grill for hamburgers and steaks but I also add slide-off-the bone Bar-B-Que Ribs, Roasts and Chicken to the list. I've added the warming rack and now we can smoke a LOT of meat at the same time. Goof video. Thanks!

Is the barrel air tight enough to extinguish any flare ups, once the lid is closed? Sure I could move the food away from the heat but I do like that about my Weber. I need a larger cooking surface than the Weber though. Thanks

Hello, bought this grill a couple of months ago, decided to try a Beer Can Chicken. Oops the warming shelf is in the way! I had my whole chicken lay with warming shelf on it. Any work around?? Thx!!

My fiance knows I love to grill and I've had a small one for years and she said pick a grill out that you can cook for our family (7) all at once. So I've been looking and reading and watching videos. This cinched it for me. I'm gonna have her get me this beauty. Quick question, you still just use one chimney in this big unit? Thanks for the video, I'm a new subscriber. Love the channel.
@JohnSanders4 жыл бұрын
Thanks and glad you enjoyed it...I think one chimney is perfect... gives some different temp zones on the edges of the main source... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!

I really want to get this grill but I’ve been reading reviews about this grill and a few of them say that the paint starts to bubble and comes off on the first use, how’s the grill holding up for you?
@JohnSanders5 жыл бұрын
Sorry I missed this comment but mine has held up well...no paint issues so far...thanks for watching!!
@oldtimerlee88205 жыл бұрын
Paint isn't an issue. I have one of the early CharGriller Pro, with all sorts of mods. All you need to do is give it a shot of Hi Temp black paint from time to time. It's still the pride & joy of my backyard kitchen. Off-set smoker box on one end and the propane burner on the other with a custom wooden shelf in front. Steel shelf that mounted on top of the smoker box. Better wheels, etc. FWIW.... after years of use.... Paint isn't an issue.
