@Mrblindjj I used to like trucks when I was a child, but now I don't :) Charice is 19-turning 20 now. She sang those diva songs coz that's what she emulated as a child growing up. She sang those songs to bring food to the table too. It was alot of necessity, rather than hobby. In her years struggling, she had to do what was necessary to provide... She kinda lost alot of her childhood too. She's been a child prodigy for so long, people telling her what to do... I didn't think it was her.

@Mrblindjj I believe her voice will never leave. It's just up to people to wake up and accept a person for who she is... If I'm willing to take the journey with her, then I believe others can too! There's 7 billion people in this world. Charice has the talent to wake up a percent of that... I believe it. And I believe she's starting to do it HER WAY. She's growing up and finding herself! That's what will make her a truer artist, in my mind.

@TheStreetcred I do agree in that if the U.S. shuns her it is our loss, and she is a true and unequaled talent. A lot of people here said because she is "asian" she will not make it here. I disagree. She had it made but I personally think it is slipping away here for one reason. People here saw her story, had empathy, fell in love with her story and her voice. Humans a creatures of habit and resist change. Its natural. Also, we all love Charice and we all think we "know" whats best for her.

What if this is really what Charice wants? She wants to be an edgy power singer. All this time, the princess diva image was never really her! I know we all fell in love with that image, but have we forgotten that Charice is a person, just like us? She's not just a product, an image. Yes, the machinery, the industry would like to label us like that--but sometimes, there comes an artist who can break the rules and break boundaries! Charice could be that exception. @Mrblindjj @loveucraze
@TheStreetcred13 жыл бұрын
I join you in your thinking that she will eventually find "common ground" in pleasing herself and her fans.. It will eventually happen, in large part because she had the courage to say -- I WANT IT THIS WAY NOW. Her fans do deserve some time to come to terms with her new direction.. but once that's over and done with, there is much to look forward to--Charice is coming into her own now.

@macherielle American Idol.. I don't really care much how they package talent. It's so cliche. I have no problem with Charice's accent. It's what makes her HER. She's an Asian/Filipino singer, so she has an Asian/Filipino 'twang'. I love it, unless we're conditioned to think it sounds "uncool". Her accent reminds us who she is. I used to think that, but people like Charice have taught me to see beyond that. I love Charice's voice because of the soul and the emotion it can convey.
@Mrblindjj13 жыл бұрын
@TheStreetcred I think she has made that perfectly clear with her statements about her change. And yes, I do realize she is human. But, I disagree on the princess diva comment. She started out singing "diva" songs, she idolized divas, and I may be wrong but if she didnt like it she and her mother were free to not participate in any of the activites that brought her fans and fame.
@TheStreetcred13 жыл бұрын
@Mrblindjj Have you ever seen Charice's old videos, doing rap songs and wearing caps and stuff? I always thought that was her REAL SELF. She can sing anything, be a diva, of course, but I always knew that behind closed doors, she was more of a tomboy. She collected cars and played alot with her bro. And having no father figure, being the breadwinner also nurtured that about her. That's her, and I'm one of those people who are glad she's finally being herself. It's a sigh of relief.
@Mrblindjj13 жыл бұрын
@HKAngeles I never said she would never make it. I said she had made it but she would lose some of her fan base here in the U.S. That is my perception from what I have seen in the music industry... In my professional opinion she will appeal to a larger market without the current stage attire. And no sir or madam (dont know which you are) I would never force my kids to not be themselves unless I KNEW it would harm them or was dangerous.

No complaints with the new do, love it! just hoping she lightens up a little bit on edgy type of clothes, she can still wear those without putting aside what enhances her beautiful look . A neighbors kids showed me what they are into and listening lately - showed me this korean grp- 4 minute.I ask what made u like them? they said they look nice and sing catchy tunes.So I know its not the accent, but its aesthetics, if it looks good it will sell. Nevertheless, I will still buy her albums!

@Mrblindjj To clarify, tomboy in terms of persona.. Loud, jokester...She was never a soft-spoken girl who played tea parties at home. she liked scary movies and plays alot of video games. that's what I meant. I do empathize now with where you comin from (i.e. being a Father to a daughter).

@TheStreetcred I do not think stating my opinion was callous or critique. I just merely stated that I dislike her stage attire. I have been in her shoes and grew up poor and became succesful in my profession. My beginnings as a fan of Charice were due in large part to having empathy for her. Who could not have empathy after seeing her story on Oprah.
@TheStreetcred13 жыл бұрын
@Mrblindjj Oh... that was you? Ok...I feel pretty bad now, but i hope you see where I was coming from.. i'm just another guy who thinks of Charice as his daughter or niece ;) And yes, I saw the letter -- that certainly qualifies you as a huge fan!

@Mrblindjj I do see that our common ground is Charice, her immense talent, and ultimately, we both want the best for her. I apologize for anything I said in haste. I now see where you come from (I thought you were trolling, sorry).
@musicheals09113 жыл бұрын
she's a rocker, her style now just fit her moves, think if she wear dress in that move, ooh no, if he has long hair in that move, 2nd the motion hh no. Artists will not be successful in their show if they will just stand and sit in front of the crowd it takes too much effort to convince crowd, and she have it.
@TheStreetcred13 жыл бұрын
@Mrblindjj Regarding her being "Asian" -- only time will tell how the "world" will accept a brown-skinned singer to be the voice of their favorite tunes. I believe there is still hope. Charice just needs to find herself. If she does that, and with her talent, she can break more barriers. Will she be the ONE Asian to break the barrier? Maybe, or maybe not. She could be the one to usher in the One---who knows. All I know is, I'm fully on board and I want her to really find herself.

@TheStreetcred Regarding the Asian issue. I think if there is a barrier, she has already broken it. My opinion is that this is just a phase she is going through and expirimenting and as you said earlier, trying to find herself. I think she will find some commong ground. She is a remarkable entertainer and I'm sure she will find a way to please all fans, as well as herself.

@loveucraze I do wish her the best and I do still support her, as evidenced by the letter I received after making a prayer request for her. Look at my channel and read the letter. I do wish her the best and I give her tons of credit, applause and a standing ovation for her accomplishments. I was not "judging her" I was merely stating my opinion of her clothing. Had I been judgmental I would have said something like "she is an idiot for changing her style. What a punk." Im not judgmental.
@Mrblindjj13 жыл бұрын
@TheStreetcred No one is puffing their chests. We are merely stating our opinions, just as you have done with your post regading us. Are you saying that it is acceptable for you to give your opinion as to your belief we ar conforming to a "sick mentality" but we cannot express ours. You are complaining of exactly what you are doing. Free expression of opinions as long is it is not harmful is part of what makes us human.
@TheStreetcred13 жыл бұрын
@Mrblindjj It's fine if you don't like her clothing/choreography or whatever. What got to me is how you can claim that what she is doing will never make it in the U.S.. My answer to that is...I don't really care about what this machinery thinks! I'd rather reclaim my humanity and be supportive of a true talent, no matter what. Who cares if the US spits her out? It's really their own loss, which is sad. It's sad that alot of us are so conformed to what this machinery wants.

IT'S NOT A MATTER OF BEING SHUNNED, IT'S THE BIG LABELS IN CONTROL. AND HER STRONGEST MUSIC HAS BEEN OLD BALLADS [WHICH I LOVE] AND THE GENERAL ARTISTS YOU SEE RUN THE OTHER WAY WHEN SHE SINGS. LADY,M AND LADY ,B HAVE NEVER BEEN ON STAGE WITH HER. A LOT OF SINGERS ARE SCARED TO DEATH OF CHARICE. AND POPULAR MUSIC,C'MON RAP I'M GONNA PUKE. WHEN YOU HAVE DAVID FOSTER AND OPRAH AS PART OF YOUR MANAGEMENT TEAM THOSE GUY'S WON'T BE ABLE TO EXPLOIT HER. I REMEMBER WHEN PINK CAME UP, LA REID FLIPPED BECAUSE PINK WANTED TO CHANGE HER STYLE. WELL SHE DID THE RIGHT THING, SHE TOLD THEM F,O, .I SAW PINK IN 2005 AT A CLUB IN FT LAUDERDALE 'SHE EVEN SAID HELLO, THE PLACE WAS SMALL. THEY WERE LIKE PUSHING HER FORTH ALBUM. SHE GO'S TO EUROPE AND AUSTRALIA AND PLAY HUGE VENUES FOR 7 DAYS IN ONE PLACE AND SO ON. I THOUGHT CHARICE WOULD BE ANOTHER SHAKIRA AN INTERNATIONAL SUPER STAR,AND NOW SHE IS. ASIA LOVES CHARICE AND YOU KNOW I THINK I'VE NEVER SEEN CHARICE NOT GET A STANDING OVATION. I STILL THINK HER CHORDS ARE INFLAMED AND REST WILL HELP SHE IS ALWAYS ON TOUR AND SHE IS A BELTING CHEST SINGER. I SAW ONE PERSON THAT WANTED TO SIGN HER BACK IN THE DAY AND THAT WAS JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charice still hits the other notes..Love her thats why im watching her vids... but she can't hit those high notes anymore.
@Mrblindjj13 жыл бұрын
@loveucraze Yes, she did already make it in the U.S. but not dressed as she does now. Mr. Foster promoted her as a superstar in the likes as Whitney, Mariah, Celine, etc. when she left him it seems to me her image cheapened. I think she is her own worse enemy. The people here are use to seeing and loving the "David Foster/Oprah Cherice" not some ghetto punk Miley Cyrus wanna be. (Miley Cryus lost popularity when she transformed.)
@vanessa12179713 жыл бұрын

@Mrblindjj @loveucraze Why do people always have to puff their chests and pretend to have the crystal ball on other peoples' lives? I know this kind of sick mentality is celebrated in this world, but why do you have to conform to it? What if the 'image' you all want for Charice is not what she wants? This is what she wants, and yes, this might lose some fans (albeit only the ignorant ones), but I believe that in the end, her fight for her OWN IDENTITY is what will draw more respect...and fans.
@TheStreetcred13 жыл бұрын
@Mrblindjj Have you ever tried putting yourself in Charice's shoes for once? Have you ever thought that her past image was not really hers, but more of a creation of the people around her? Have you ever thought that maybe, all her life, she's been inclined to giving heed to others' ideas, rather than her own? Perhaps, this new direction is what she really wants! Instead of giving callous critique, why not have some empathy and be in her shoes for once?
@TheStreetcred13 жыл бұрын
@loveucraze @Mrblindjj Why are your critiques so conformed to what 'others' want? How 'others' will react? How 'bout flipping the script for once---why not wake up the ignorance kids about true talent--instead of being so superficial in their ways? Why not let Charice wake them up?
@Mrblindjj13 жыл бұрын
she looks kind of ridiculous to me...wearing combat boots, same choreography in every show...the head shaking, It just doesnt appeal to me....I still like her voice, but I can say this, as my opinion only, she will NEVER make it big in the U.S. with the show she has now. She has probably alienated a lot of her fans here with the punk clothes and the obvious lack of true emotions in her singing....all the choreography ruins her natural talent... just my opinion as I'm sure you have yours too.
