We know Charice is a legend but I have to say that Stell's performance is nothing short of impressive. And what makes it even more incredible is that it was unplanned, not part of the concert repertoire, and an impromptu challenge by David Foster for Stell. It's even nerve-wracking because the song has "impossible notes." Stell had already sung three high-pitched and vocally demanding songs, and to top it off, he's not in the best condition (he's sick). I had to mention, too, that a day prior to the concert, SB19 had intense performances at an event. And the elephant in the room-he's a man, hitting the piece in female key and doing it cleanly.

Yes, Stell is part of SB19, but Stell is STELL. He has his own unique individuality, so please give it to him. If you saw the full video of Charise in that video. DF mention that they practise the song 7 times the night before with full band and coaching her the note to hit. Unlike with Stell, its just a passing on how the flow of the song will go, no formal practise so Stell sought advice to his vocal coach how to handle the high note DF is expecting to hear, so qoudos and hail to stell for passing the challenge DF impose to him

Just a comparison without malice between Charice Pempenco and Stell who both sang this iconic song under David Foster. For me the version of Charice is more beautiful. Though both of them have beautiful voice and deserved recognition Charice has a more strong and powerful voice. That's why David Foster was all praises of her and supported her. Unfortunately that was long time ago. Stell has all the success in front of him. ❤

Head voice, no falsetto in female key, after doing All I Ask and Defying Gravity. Not to mention the pressure as DF even showed a clip of Ms Celine Dion before he performed this. It could make or break him if he fails, but of course he didnt despite him being nervous. He went there as an opening act and ended up being part of the main show. Stell's high notes arent irritating to the ears IMO. His God given talent is being used the right way, so no doubt he will be one of PH icons.
