Wow! That is a great point about retirement (at minute 12). I have never heard any Bible teacher say that - the whole idea of storing up money for retirement is so that we won't have to depend on God. That is the way of the world. We have a Heavenly Father who provides for us. Thank you, Andrew!

I thank God that He has blessed me with the ability to store up money to give my grown children and their children. I am thankful that I am still working part time after having retired from one job so I can pay my own way in life without using what I have set aside for my children. I pray for wisdom now, not money, so I can continue my mission in life and be/do exactly what Jesus needs me to do for His kingdom. I worship and adore Jesus and that is all that matters to me. ( I had been giving for four years prior and getting deeper in debt )I am a resident of a different kingdom. I live by different principles, laws, yes laws. Faith is a law. Part of seeking God's righteousness is being wise with money and saving for retirement or for a "rainy day" God would have us live blessed not from miracle to miracle. so many Christians are like the seed that fell among rocky soil they receive the word with gladness but opposition comes and they fold because they lack character and discipline. A friend of mine went from one prosperity meeting to another hearing "quit what you're doing and live for God." He couldn't keep a job with this mentality. He committed suicide at 45.

How does the teaching of tithing work with 2 Cor. 9:7-10, giving what you decide in your heart, not under compulsion, or grudgingly, for God loves a cheerful giver.

1 Corinthians 13:3 says if you give but don't do it in love then it profits you nothing. So I believe this can be applied here, that if you give grudgingly, you aren't doing so in love therefore your giving will be unprofitable. The Bible also says that seed time and harvest time shall not cease (Genesis 8:22), so as long as you need a harvest, the principle is you must sow seed. Now thanks be to God because HE Himself gives us both seed to sow as well as bread to eat (2 Corinthians 9:10) . The money God gives you has a portion for sowing seed and a portion for eating...but sometimes people eat everything that comes to them. 1 Corinthians 4:7 says everything we have was given to us by God, including the money HE gives us. Amen.
